Interestingly enough, it doesn't. Check out a back issue of Food and Wine. They conducted a test, and his shite was odorless. Amazing.

Totally agree. And none of my friends understand. I miss no reservations but like parts unknown. Addresses social/economic problems through his point of view. I enjoy the deeper tie in with food and a society. Mississippi Delta and Detroit episodes were really good. I like how he has a good time but also at times has "this sucks" look on his face. He's real and that's why I like him.

It only seems that way because some people wear their feelings on their sleeves and would rather sweet niceties than just plain real honesty. Bourdain simply doesn't pull punches. He's to the point. That irritates some people I suppose.

Just because you and your conservative mindset expect someone to sugar coat things, so it doesn't upset you and/or others around you, doesn't mean it should happen.

He is one of the best entertainments on television.

The raw truth is good and riveting television. I wish more people would do that instead of catering to PG ratings.

This may be the real answer. Not in the Civil War context, but Northerners don't carry that polite air with them like Southerners try to. Bourdain is monotone until something interests him or pisses him off. And if you really want to see him at his worst, check out the Sicily episode on Parts Unknown.

That the one when they went on a fake fishing trip?

That was funny. You don't see real stuff like that on TV these days.

That's Joe Bastianich. Read his book Restaurant Man. He, his mother Lydia and Mario Batalli are partners. He's a douchebag. But his book was a good read.

But this wasn’t a sordid afternoon delight. Ms. Bourdain, 34, is a mixed martial arts fighter, an aspirant to the league of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and she was training, as she does nearly every day, at the Renzo Gracie Academy on West 30th Street.

Joe is a toolbag extraordinaire. I have met his mother Lydia on a few occasions at her restaurant in Pittsburgh. Very friendly and hospitable -- Joe is the exact opposite.

Another thing I like about Bourdain is that he goes to spots where no one else goes, not just the touristy spots that everyone else hits up. I liked when he traveled to Eunice for the boucherie, and when he hooked up with Miss Linda in New Orleans for some yaka mein. In the Delta episode he went to Po' Monkeys and Big Apple. That's seriously legit in my eyes. Even in Vegas and Miami he searched the nooks and crannies for places that not many people know about.

If you can get past all the bragging and "mother frickers" in his book it is a good read about how he hooked up with Mario and how they run their restaurants. I suggest reading it.
