Why is the country/this board so polarized?

Honest inquiry. Why do you think we have arrived at such a state of affairs. You see it here, you see it in the news, you see it in D.C. seems to be just rampant "us against them" mentality.

Because the left is dragging this country to the irresponsibly absurd far left, and Americans are sick of it.

When you pit earners against takers, there is bound to be animosity.

It's been like this for 150 years. Intern et and cable news just make it more visible

Divisiveness is my #1 issue I'd like to see radically changed in our political theater.

I've tried to tone down my own rhetoric among friends and others while talking politics.

on this board, many do it for entertainment.

In Washington, it's pure political games.. I hate it!

on the news, it's how ratings are made I suppose.

It's an ugly game out to gain an advantage to hold power, but in the end, are there any winners?

In summary, we lack humility and respect for one another... If we can hold up others as better than ourselves, then we can achieve greatness.

The parties want people to think there are differences so they get fired up and vote for their chosen party.

The 'right' and 'left' are actually similar in several fundamental ways.

One side is all about change (they call themselves progressives; what do they want to progress towards or anyway from?) while the other side says "don't risk what has worked for what sounds good". And a lot is on the line.

Its a two party system. The world is always coming to an end if you are the other side

Because it is "us against them" and the stakes couldn't be higher.

Good marketing.

You have to vote for my guy or else the other guy will ruin the country.

Keeps them both in power.

Because the half that works is tired of giving the half that doesn't work their half*

*And the politicians are the "polarizers" based on whose half they claim to represent while not representing the whole.

I dig in a little more every time Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and other leftists blame every issue on the wealthy, while being obscenely wealthy, (through public service jobs no less) and the right.
It disgusts me to see women fall for their emotional pandering that has little if any foundation in reality. It is insulting to me and to other women who spend any time thinking about current events.

I'm sick to death of hearing about income inequality and pay gaps. I'm sick of hearing about white privilege and cis gender bull shite.

I'm tired of worrying about how much our health insurance will cost, how much groceries will cost, how much gas,and electricity will cost. I worry for my kids and my parents.

I think we pay enough in taxes and feel as though I might come unhinged the next time I hear that people who have been "so fortunate" should be willing to "give back". We give and give and give but it will never be enough. On top of that I worry about how our political affiliation may impact our future.

I'm just tired of feeling stressed the hell out. Tired of lib-prog finger pointing at me and people like me.

I say look not at the speaker...look at the audience. They just give the people what they want, as always. But we are so "immediate" now, it has to be more pronounced to keep our microwave culture's attention.

The Constitution was DESIGNED to CONSTRAIN the power of Government. As such, people could remain free to exploit their Natural/God-given abilities without fear of coercion (mob rule) from the group. Totally unique idea. Motivating...for them that are relatively gifted; a bane on them who aren't.

And that's it. The Group (called 'takers' on this forum) who believes that they have more to gain by surrendering personal freedoms in exchange for a 'spread the wealth around' (Socialist) form of government, has risen in electoral power to the degree that Democratic electoral "fundamental change" is now possible.

And them that love freedom, and believe that it is not only more just, practical and a God-given right...realize this electoral scenario, and it's effect on their life.

It's Marxism vs. Capitalism. Who gets what, how much and for doing what. Government-based charity/dispersement of the GNP...either based on 'need'...or merit.

The irony, and painful reality...is that BOTH economic ideologies have become CORRUPT to the core. Our own Capitalist (Rs) and Socialist (Ds) both take it to the bank. The 'insider trading' thing indicts all who are a part of it.

It's like the Hatfields and McCoys now, WF...in a shrinking economy (for various reasons) desperation, cries of injustice and corruption ring true...and the tribe is enraged...locked and loaded...and ready to fight for their just due.

"War in heaven (Absolute Philosophical moral high ground, re the sovereignty of the Self, as opposed to the Whole) and on Earth". (Biblical)

Humanity evolving. Mud on the wall. Big power, when we get over this hump.

This is not the only reason, but one of many.

The left has moved the goal post way left and the right has moved left. What used to be common conservative is now extreme right. There don't seem to be any blue dogs anymore...

Seriously, have you ever actually tried to converse with an actual fricking liberal?

How does one "compromise" with a party who picks as its legislative leaders reid and pelosi and whose chairman is wasserman-schultz?
