4 Billion could build a fence.

With about 1500 miles of southern border, 4 billion should be able to build a fence. Works out to about $500 per foot. I think we could build a pretty good fence for $500 per foot. After that, don't need the $$$ to support other issues.
(saw this post from over 4 years ago, thought it needed a bump)

The Mexicans along the border sure will appreciate the scrap - because if you're intending to build a fence and just leave it, that's what it will be in under a week.
BTW - how tall is your fence? Do they not make ladders tall enough for it?

there is a partial fence today. 1500 is meant to close the gap. Or do you really think 1500 miles is the length of the border?

How much to man this fence? How many people would you need at the fence? One every 100 ft? One every 1000 ft? What about at places where it would be easiest to break through, would you focus resources there?
How tall is this fence? What is it made of? What do you do with the people that are caught? Drive them back onto the Mexico side and drive back? What happens when parts of the fence are cut through or broken down? Do we have a crew ready to go reinforce these areas?

The 4 Billion is a kick-back to lawyers, not a fence....

Tethered balloons, oh wait we already have these.

Why don't we go ahead and build a replica of the Great Wall of China? That way it can be a tourist attraction and the tourists can come and watch out for illegals.

Odrama said the border is mega secure.

At what cost? The 4 billion dollar statement is getting more and more ridiculous.
Who is watching these cameras?
How do these sensors avoid accidentally getting set off by animals and patrol officers and such?

A fence would be divisive, racist and insensitive to all the poor down South. Immoral, as such.
We've got QE money to spare up here; all we need is the votes to endorse it.

doesn't matter what the frick the cost is it's still cheaper than these people sucking the taxpayer tit for generations to come.
but dems lose voters and pubs lose cheap labor so the fence is a pipedream. deal with it

Yes. But he also knows that it costs a shite ton of money. Even a shite ton more than 4 billion.

How much once they get here? Home much in welfare, food, doctors, detainment, etc.
The problem know is they know there is no problem entering. There needs to be a show of force to make the waves stop then resources as needed...

I'm in favor of a fence on the border, then another fence 100 yards in on US soil. Just a chain link fence. Plant land mines between the fences in areas where most crossings are but put warming signs on both fences all the way down every 50 feet

We already have a shite ton of troops and border patrol agents on the border. Our government has made it impossible, often a fire-able offense, for them to do their job of keeping people out. Until you solve that problem, they're basically greeters. If you fix that problem AND build a fence, it gets much more manageable. Unmanned portions could be easily monitored via drones.

I wonder how many Boarder Guards/ Customs guys are currently paid off by the cartels...

I just love how the opposition to the fence is the cost to build, maintain, and monitor.
It's almost as if the liberals really believe it's cheaper to let south America's poorest flood into the U.S.
You have to be either intellectually dishonest, stupid, or the perfect combination of both.

You losers sure do ask a lot of questions when it's not your boy talking. And worried about money suddenly too.
Try and apply that level of pragmatism to one thing Obama has done.
