Big changes to E Boyd and Burbank coming---Update with VIDEO--signs now

Update:
Video of the fools
Signs added
It's like, "hey, watch out."
Then, "you can only turn right"
"no srsly you'll die."
It's back.
Best update (nvm)
As of this morning, all stop signs, painted arrows, and any other evidence of that atrocity have been removed. Lights working as they were. Victory is ours.
Updates at bottom.
Blech
This is really going to suck. As if building a sonic wasn't bad enough for that intersection.
UPDATE #1
They did it today. And, as expected, people fully tarded out. When I got to the light, Burbank was treating their yellow light like a stop sign, the people on boyd were completely ignoring the right turn only sign and blowing right through the intersection, and there was nobody to regulate anything. Those of us who actually followed the rules and turned right used the Mellow Mushroom parking lot to get back onto Boyd. And this is only summer
it's pretty comical.

UPDATE #3:
Here are some really professional maps I drew to better clarify how much fun it will be to get to school every day.
UPDATE #4

BATON ROUGE - The traffic signal at the corner of East Boyd Drive and Burbank Drive will be removed two weeks into August.
This week that the light will change from regulating traffic with red and green lights to flashing lights. The signal for drivers on Burbank Drive will be changed to a flashing yellow light. The signal for drivers using East Boyd Drive will become a flashing red light. A stop sign will also be added to East Boyd at the intersection.
This is the final phase of the project to improve safety and traffic flow on Burbank Drive, which included re-striping the street and adding a center turn lane. DOTD Director Rodney Mallet thinks the changes will benefit drivers.
They may have to change their routes up a little bit if they're used to going down East Boyd and turning left because now that's going to be a right turn only," Mallet explained. "But you'll see Jennifer Jean and West Parker will have left turn signals and that will make left turning a little easier and a little safer for everyone."
This is really going to suck. As if building a sonic wasn't bad enough for that intersection.

One just happened. Light is already changed, went to sonic, and watched someone run into the light pole at that intersection.

Changing Boyd to right turn only substantially decreases the amount of conflict points at that intersection. This means fewer accidents (unless you have idiot drivers). The idiot drivers weren't ready for the change, but they will adapt. Complaining about it not working the first day it changes is ridiculous. Also, looking at your map earlier, to get to the CEBA lot I would take that gold route. It is not "ridiculously longer" but probably just as fast or faster than your preferred route.

I like the no left turn. It always backs up horrendously.
However, I also think cops should be sitting there for the first...year where they write tickets to every single person that takes a left.
Pet peeve of mine. Especially when you're going the opposite direction on that road...everyone always takes a left even though there's a huge "NO LEFT TURN" sign.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbanghead.gif)

flashing yellow light
You'd think with all the experience with hurricanes, people would know what a flashing yellow means.
But Nooooo.
I slow down at these since people treat them as stops, but cruise through. I picture every body else getting pissed off when I do it, but I'm the one who is doing it right.

What a clusterfrick. Who the hell approved this idea?

The no turn left thing sucks. Looks like a new DWI spot... Just ticket people late at night for going left.

Maybe 1/3 of all drivers actually know what a flashing red light means.
I have a feeling this will turn into a demolition derby during rush hour.

This is one of the dumbest traffic decisions they've ever made. It would be like someone saying "Oh, no! There's a fire in my kitchen! I better pour gasoline on it!" The issue with people turning had to do with two factors:
1. No turn lanes or signals on Boyd for turning onto Burbank.
2. No turn signals for Burbank turning onto Boyd.
The signals at least can be fixed rather easily and cheaply, and they would FIX the problem. Making Boyd a flashing yellow will just make traffic worse on Lee and Parker. The real issue is the fact that LSU Avenue does not connect to Burbank, Jennifer Jean does not connect to Highland, and Parker does not connect to Nicholson. Until these issues are fixed, people trying to turn from Boyd onto Burbank will be a problem.

Thankfully I haven't lived in BR since graduating LSU....that intersection was always terrible...and Burbank is always hell during football season.

Shouldn't be any surprises here. They let everyone know they were going to do this back whenever they put in that light at the intersection of Parker and Burbank by the Taco Bell. The plan was to put that light in and get rid of the Boyd light. Funny that everyone decides to freak out now
I moved to Lafayette after graduation. frick BR ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbirdtongue.gif)
