I had a cop that lived down the street from me when I was growing up. He said that one night he got a call about a guy terrorizing customers at a convenient store. He showed up, guy ran at him with a knife. He shot the guy six times in the chest and the man kept coming. He had to get a head shot to put him down. Guy was on PCP.

The semi famous case in BR several years ago with George temple and perry Stephens, (bystander shot guy beating the shite out of a cop) anyway temple was shot once in the chest with the officers .40, 4 times in the torso with Stephens .45 and was still not only living but beating the shite out of the cop and was finally killed by a .45 round to the head

Had a buddy tell me in Iraq someone had unloaded an entire mag of 556 then had to finish him off with a 9 to the head
Drugged of course

designed to injure soldier on battlefield, and take up to 2 soldiers to assist injured out of action. at least that's what I've read..
Exactly. This is why I use birdshot in my shotgun instead of buckshot. I want to injure the armed robber in my house and it will take 2 more robbers to assist the injured out of my house.
Sounds legit.

9X25 Dillon is the best option. Best pistol round ever. They just need to make it more available.

I know a scout sniper, he took two Kimbers to Irag, and he could take any side arm he wanted. I think about the 1911 is that some people just cannot use it, I read on another board enlisted servicemen and women(PC) were having trouble making qualifier with the 1911.

Probably be the .45.
Never understood the 9 as a battlefield round.

The glaringly obvious thing to me is that they should allow them to use expanding ammunition. Until they do that, when it comes to hardball ammo, the bigger the bullet, the bigger the hole.
Do you even Geneva Convention bro?

Delta Elite is the obvious answer

Sure, they want great power and small size, low weight and great performance with ball ammo.
Not amazingly, such a thing really doesn't exist.
And please God let the 1911 go.

I can agree with you, except for the whole letting the 1911 go.
Can not comprehend you there.

The Army, as a whole, really doesn't.
9mm is a perfectly capable round and the M9 is a perfectly capable combat pistol. 99% of the whiners in the service today never served when the M1911 was still issued and are just parroting complaints they have no real world experience with. The M9 is tougher and more durable than any GI 1911 and 15+ rounds of 9mm >> 7+ rounds of .45 given the capability of the average soldier it is issued to. 230gr .45 ACP ball ammo, as issued, is barely 350 ft-lbf. That's a downgrade from the current 9mm NATO. Want more effective pistol? Train more effective shooters first. Want better terminal performance? Start issuing JHP ammo. Last I checked, the people we are fighting now never signed Declaration III.

Stopping power in a pistol caliber will equate to a larger/heavier bullet moving at a medium velocity. The 45acp was and is the answer for that.
Small high velocity rounds can defeat body armor but are crappy at energy transfer.
5.56 is a great lightweight all purpose anti personnel rifle cartridge.

5.56 is a great lightweight all purpose anti personnel rifle cartridge.

And I said Geneva, too, but the interpretation of the Hague convention is actually the legal justification used to limit NATO members to FMJ ammunition only in small arms.
