The top athletes migrate to sports that pay more. We will suck at soccer until we stop sucking at soccer. Quite the catch 22.

I agree. I will be the first to admit I do not know shite about soccer, other than put the ball in the goal, but that team seemed like they were a step faster.

MLS needs to build to the point where they're giving development contracts to 15-16 year old kids. That's the trump card over other sports. Also reducing the cost of top notch youth soccer are the two major things that will push US soccer to the elite point.

I was surprised at the speed difference between our players and some of the other teams we played.
Can we not teach Xavier Carter how to kick a soccer ball instead of the hood of a car?

We need guys who can pass the ball. Seriously, speed is not our problem. But, yeah, we could use more great athletes of all colors playing if we want to be a top-tier team.

Yeah that black guy for Belguim towards the end looked like the best athlete on the field and Mirrales was the fastest by a mile.
They also looked like the stronger team. They were tossing the USA players around and pushing them out of the way like it was nothing.
I don't follow soccer and I don't have a clue about strategy but from an athleticism standpoint, USA looked like the inferior team.

I've thought about this. Imagine if all of those college football athletes grew up playing soccer instead of football. I feel like they would have a huge athletic advantage on every team...
