No, she chose Barcadia. She and my son actually enjoyed Barcadia, but I was bored with the place after 30 minutes and the food wasn't very good.

Just finished up at Peche. Nothing really blew me away, but everything was good. We had the gulf fish ceviche, tuna crudo with cucumber, shrimp and fontina croquettes, crab/jalapeño capellini, spicy ground shrimp with noodles, and Meyer lemon cake with macerated blueberries.

Sorry about the cake pic -- I forgot to take the pic until it already devoured.

Wait, you went to eat and didn't have the fried green tomatoes?

Go home with your tail between your legs.

Yeah but surely their other food should be top-notch as well, right? Please remember that I essentially ate 2 lunches today, so I was limited on the amount of things I could order.

Sorry about Peche. I LOVED it and the ground shrimp with noodles were excellent. I have the recipe from there, but I haven't made it.

Why are you apologizing about Peche? It was fine, just nothing mind-blowing. That was my 2nd visit there and I've enjoyed it both times, although I don't rate it as high as many others do. Headed to Herbsaint tomorrow for lunch and then picking up some Domenica pizzas to-go before heading back to BR.

Give us an review on Herbsaint. I've never been and have heard various good and bad things about it.

It's one of the top few restaurants in NOLA. All you need to know.

OP- I could see someone not falling in love with Peche. Expectations are usually set very high and it's somewhat basic dishes. Meat lovers in particular may be underwhelmed. That being said, it's one of my favorites and an excellent value.

I am curious to know what restaurant or meal is mind blowing to you?

It all depends. It doesn't necessarily have to be anything expensive or extravagant. I've had mind-blowing meals at places like Commanders but I've also had just as many at places like Gus's in Memphis.

Again, kudos for coming back with your reviews/pics. So many people come on here asking for advice and never report back.

I think Peche executes what it does very well, especially the crudo and whole fish preparations. I just ate a better meal at Cafe Tango a few days ago, but that doesn't make Peche average by any means. It's different...that's what it aims to be.

God, I hate this term. Food doesnt blow your mind, it isnt space travel or Michael Bay CGI. Its food.
