My dad used to wait tables in a bar when he was 10 or 12 
. Granted this was during the mid 40s.
He turned out alright.

He was obviously bored. Nothing to do. Go out and play. Be a decent parent and don't subject your kid to that. Get a growler filled to go and take it home and watch the game so the kid can go do whatever.
