I need to tell you, MADM 701 is a complete nightmare to me. I am happy that others can gain knowledge out of it and enjoy the content but it's impossible for me. The textbook is awful, there is zero teaching, and I don't think I will ever apply any of this in my profession. The chapters are boring and memorizing 70+ pages of content for the tests is awful.
Kungu changed the format from last semester (40/30/30 to 50/25/25) and the academic coaches (in my experience) have been nitpicking everything. This is the definition of a "checkbox" for me and I cannot wait for it to be over.
This class desperately needs a teacher. Someone who will make videos and actually teach the concepts because the class can be interesting and helpful. However, Kungu packed up shop before the class even started and might as well not even exist. He has provided absolutely nothing for this course and I'm pretty sure that the people who liked him simply liked him because his class was easier back then than it is now (or I'm just an idiot which is certainly possible).
I am not trying to sound rude, I just don't think it's possible to like someone who doesn't put in any effort whatsoever.

If the professor is not lecturing or providing helpful content, and putting in very little or no effort, you should approach the professor privately. If that doesn’t work, let the university know. Just because it is an online class doesn’t relieve the professor of the responsibility of teaching.

I have only taken 2 classes at LSUS, but I get the impression that many classes don’t have lectures. That is not acceptable. I am also an online student at another university, where I have taken many classes, and they all had lectures (mostly recorded, but comprehensive and on topic). Overall my experiences online have been even better than in person, but online does not mean you teach yourself.

Who are you taking ISDS 705 with if I may ask with the large time commitment? thanks. I plan on taking it with Gibbs as that's the forum's consensus.

A lot of older posts say ISDS with Lin is the course easiest to double up. Can anyone verify if this is still the case? Considering pairing it with Choi FIN 730.

ISDS 705 with Lin is a good class to double up with. There are only 3 exams & that will make your final grade. He was quick to respond to my emails as well.
I have not taken Fin 730 with Choi but Fin 701 with Choi is a good class to double up with in my opinion too. There are 3 exams, 2 case studies & 5 discussion questions (with 1 response to a classmate for each).
I am taking both of these classes right now & I like both of the professors. I will be finishing both a week early too :)

I am wondering if anyone can offer me insight about MADM 701 with Erin Mclaughlin & MKT 701 with Aadel Darrat.
I am taking both of these classes in Fall AP1 & I just want to know what the work load is like, what assignments are there in each class, etc.
Thank you

Thanks for the info. That’s what the older posts said but wanted to make sure I didn’t get in over my head. I took FIN 701 with Vines and really became dependent on Excel. I had heard Choi doesn’t allow excel so that’s a bit of a concern. But I’m hoping 730 will be more conceptual.

Hi. What can you tell me about the course requirements for FIN 730 Financial Markets with Choi? How are the tests? Is there a lot of writing required for the course?
I am trying to decide between that and MADM 715 Labor & Employment Law for next semester
Thanks!

Also if you can send me the FIN 730 syllabus, I would greatly appreciate it ltlisa03@aol.com
I had MKT 701 with Dr Mohamad Darrat. There were multiple choice and t/f on the tests. Forums to post in and writing assignments. I am taking MKT 710 International Marketing this semester with Dr Aadel Darrat. This course is 100% writing. There are no tests. Weekly forums, 3 case studies, and 1 country assignment. Both courses have been manageable as far as the course loads.

Hi, I have taken Fin 701 with Choi, not Fin 730 but there were only 3 exams, 2 case studies and 5 discussion questions. In my opinion, there was not a lot of writing and there were 20 questions on each exam, multiple choice and true false.

as someone who works 50+ hours/week and has little kids to take care of, is it recommended to just take one class per term or are there any classes that you can still double up on? Im about to start this program in September and initially planned to just do one class at a time but definitely would like to double up on any if its very doable.

Okay thanks. I'm trying to get some feedback on Fin 730 from anyone who has taken it recently.

I don't have kids, but I think it's possible to double up if it's possible for you to get a babysitter so you can use a 1/2 to 3/4 day (4-6 hours) one day a week to really focus and crank out papers. Throughout the week, you'll need to put an hour or so in a day, but I imagine you can do that late at night when the kids are asleep. I put in up to an hour a night reading/watching lectures (usually more like 45 min) and then almost a full day every Sunday. This has worked for me so far. I double up and work full time. Some classes in the future may be more time intensive and I'll have to maybe use both weekend days, but it's better IMO to just take two at a time than to drag this out longer than a year! Kudos to you for doing your MBA while working and with kiddos!

I can definitely see how that would be frustrating. I didn't know the class structure had changed. Sorry for your experience but thanks for sharing for future students to be better informed.

Tank123,
Same feelings and I know I posted earlier. Quizlet.com flashcards I think is the only way I might succeed. I am done reading the textbook as my test scores are tanking just memorizing useless definitions.
This is the worst way to format this class ever and the academic advisor I am assigned absolutely hates my writing. The sad part is unfortunately I work in an extremely progressive organization and get penalized for not upending my organization in my papers.
You are not an idiot I can assure you. It has taken a great topic and destroyed it.

Ivory- do you still have your syllabus? I'm trying to know what I'm getting myself into next month and I start this class plus MKT at the same time during a work trip
If anyone would be willing to share theirs that would be so helpful! mcconnelll72@lsus.edu

Crammed hard for this exam -- read, re-read, and read again nearly all 100 pages, nearly three hours of video, 2 hours nightly on quizlet and...*75%*
With any luck, Kungu throws out 3 or 4 questions and I get a nice little boost. Otherwise, just another brick in the wall.

Thanks, crimson. Sadly, I have been studying the quizlet since week one and can't seem to do well on these tests. I truly feel that it's ridiculous how specific the questions are considering the reading is generally 60-70+ pages. In my opinion, the tests should be more high-level with "general concept" understanding in-mind as opposed to specific, one-line definitions. It makes preparing for the tests impossible because you can never truly be "prepared" with how specific everything is.
As for your AC - that sounds awful. My AC is terrible too but for grammar reasons as opposed to content. It amazes me that they can dock you points for content when they have no way of proving what you're saying is right or wrong. The format of this class just sucks.
