Aaaaand I'm done. I finished my MBA in 15 months, and I'm happy I did it. I actually learned more than I thought I would (especially in Meeks' classes) and enjoyed parts of it. I wish everyone the best of luck in the program and all future endeavors.

Which is better LSUS MBA or WGU MBA?

Both are online, but I'll save about $4,000 taking the WGU route. They'll both take about the same amount of time.

Here's a link to the WGU program:

LINK

It looks like WGU requires 24 months and is about $16,000. LSUS can be finished in less than a year if you double up every session and the total cost is about $12,000. I am finishing up my LSUS program tomorrow after 15 months (I had to skip a session and I didn't double up every time), and I would highly recommend it because it's faster and less expensive, while still fully accredited.

Not sure about extra credit, but I just saw on the class/prof spreadsheet (LINK ) that the quizzes are curved.

I'm guessing you did as poorly as I did on his first quiz :)

Read and follow his Grading Rubrik, which is basically "write a lot, then write some more, and make sure that what you're writing is directly relevant to the topics covered in class". That's really it. If you don't have any business experience yourself, the class will likely be pretty rough.

For the session that starts tomorrow, one of my classes is ISDS 705 with Darban. I just looked through the syllabus and noticed it requires a group project, which seems to require an excessive amount of work including 3 in-person interviews, research, and is expected to result in an 18-25 page paper.

Add to this the fact that since groups were assigned by alphabetically order, it is very likely members are in different time zones and probably have conflicting schedules. This wouldn't be an issue for a small project, but this one seems HUGE.

If anyone here has gone through this class, I would love to hear about your experience - especially in regards to the group project. I am afraid I may end up dropping the class, and, since it doesn't look like there are any opening in other classes, dropping it put me behind my expected completion date of the MBA program.

I've been through ISDS705 with Lind, which sounds like it's similar. Basically, if anyone in your group owns their own company, no matter how small, USE THAT COMPANY!!! If no one owns a company, then find a VERY CLOSE and UNDERSTANDING friend of someone in your group. It's painful, but you have to get through it. DO NOT just go knocking on doors to ask random people if you can interview them; that is guaranteed to fail.

That's good to know you also took Meeks and can speak to the workload. I've been nervous about it because of the group work but everyone says he's amazing, so I think I'll stick with him.

His groupwork in MADM760 isn't bad at all. It's mainly just discussion. Meeks gives you a PowerPoint template that each team needs to fill out. If you share that file on OneDrive or Google Drive and have everyone update it with their thoughts before the weekly call, then the call goes quickly and the PowerPoint can easily be edited and turned in.

I'm currently registered for ACCT 705 with Huang and MADM 760 with Meeks in AP2. Based on your experience in ACCT 705, do you think this is a good pairing?

Absolutely, if you're comfortable with Excel. I had MADM760 with Meeks last session, and the class is pretty awesome IMO. It does take 10-15+ hours per week (lots of reading, writing and thinking), but ACCT 705 with Huang only takes 3-5 hours max.

Also, I was hoping to to pair it with another class. Any suggestions on good classes for pairing? Thanks everyone!

I know that MKT715 Darrat and ACCT705 Huang could easily be paired. Unfortunately, I think the larger problem is that there just aren't many classes available in AP2, so I think you'll have to just take whatever you can get if anything else becomes available.

Nope. That is included in your tuition.

Two straightforward classes I would recommend:

MKT715 with Darrat. Basically, this is just Intro to R Programming. If you've ever worked with data in Excel, I think you'll do just fine.

ACCT705 with Li Huang. The homework is Excel and one module of Tableau, though the quizzes and tests are on Fraud concepts, with questions directly from her slides. She walks you through examples of the homework problems in videos. The material is interesting and the homework is fun (to me).

Wow. It looks like the COVID-19 pandemic has really increased enrollment in the program. One professor for next session (Fall 2020 AP2) is already recommending that we schedule our tests in ProctorU. And I just looked on compass and there appears to be only ONE class available now - International Experience. I hope everyone has enrolled in the classes they need.

hello, question im a new student and I did my research on classes and professors but non of the classes or professors are available for AP2 which starts on Oct 26, 2020. So my question is if I want to pick the professor and class I want how on far on advance I have to do it.... the counselor told me more classes will show up, but she did know when and or which class... any inside into this will help, thank you.

Just keep checking back. They add new classes and people drop out of existing classes, which cause those classes to show up again. This is my second to last session, and what I do is try to register the first day it's open for a session. If I don't get what I want, I'll get something I can live with so I'm registered. Then I'll check back weekly or daily to see if something better shows up. If it does, I just drop the one I didn't really want and add the better one.

I am in Huang's 705 class too. Seems easy so far, good with excel but never touched tableau before. It's my last class before graduating so was hoping for an easy one. Very self driven course.

Tableau is super easy and extremely powerful. It's a whole lot of drag and drop, which makes it even easier than Excel (to me). If you have the time, just search YouTube for a tutorial and you'll learn probably everything you'll need for this class within an hour or two.

First week down in MKT715 with Dr. Mohamad Darrat and ACCT705 with Dr. Li Huang, and both are fair and interesting so far.

MKT715 is R programming, and it expects no previous programming experience at all. I have a long background in programming, so it looks like it will be pretty easy. The materials are presented very gradually. Dr. Darrat provides the syllabus up front, and I've already gone through almost all of the book and homework for the entire course.

ACCT705 is Excel (and eventually Tableau), with information about fraud. The technical concepts are presented pretty gradually, so if you have experience with Excel and Tableau, the exercises aren't difficult. The quizzes are unproctored and open-book, and you get to take them twice, so you'll do well on those. Don't know about the tests yet, but there are 3 of these which are closed-book and proctored, covering the material that was on the quizzes.

Hello Everyone,

Has anyone taken Sam Wyatt for MADM 760. I hear his exams are tricky, so I was wondering what are the types of things to focus on? His exams are a bulk of his grade, so I am worried.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

There are about 6 reviews of his MADM760 class in the spreadsheet:

from what someone else posted that helped me get into full classes:
-browse classes while not logged in so you can see full -classes
-try to register for the full class you want, it wont be successful but it will give you the option to get on the email list so that you are alerted when an opening occurs

Hey audioaxes1,

Can you elaborate? How does one actually do what you're recommending?

Is there a spreadsheet or list that sums up all the info of the last 450 pages? Like what classes take longer or good pairing of classes? Best teachers and if the classes - finance/data/accounting concentrations in particular were worth it? Or do I need to come up with a scraping code to grab the last 450 pages and search them? Thanks.

Keep checking back on compass.lsus.edu, as they open new classes sometimes and people drop out. Really, try to check back daily if you can and you may find other options if that's what you're looking for.
