DUDE! Good Call!
I transposed those course numbers. I am now set for MADM 760 with Heller, from what I hear from this forum is a good instructor.

Thanks again for noticing that!

I think probably people just go way overboard on part 1 and assume they need to do the same on part 2 to receive a similar grade. I figure I spent 10-12 hours on part 1, and maybe 4-6 on part 2. Don't kill yourselves people.

This is a good point. There were people in the class coming up with crazy product ideas that created complicated edge cases that had to be addressed in their projects. I think some of that unneeded complexity came from the fact that the grading rubric provided to the class for the project was very ambiguous. The initial instructions and subsequent Zoom session focused on the product and people ran with trying to come up with something unique. The grade was based on how well you can put together a plan to market a product, not how imaginative the product you came up with was, so all of the up front focus on the product itself was misleading. If they had kept everything simple, they could have met the project requirements without much difficulty. Same with people designing logos or coming up with product illustrations, which were completely unnecessary to get a perfect score.

I had a 210/200 (extra credit) on part 1, 200/200 on part 2 and I did spend quite a bit more time on it, mostly on research to make sure I had everything covered and justified. I probably had 20 hours on part 1 and 10-12 on part 2.

With all that said, I would anticipate that the project we had won't be the same project the next class has (much like the class before us had a different project).

Does she provide a PDF of the project requirements for each phase? If so, can you send those to me?

She does, however it was a completely different project than the one given to the class in the previous term. It felt like most of the class was thrown together on the fly week to week, it was somewhat disorganized. I would count on the next term of MKT 701 being different as well.

I'm not even sure it was that. I needed a custom P&L spreadsheet and it simply took a quick email to Dr. James. She was super responsive and it took almost no time at all.

It felt like some of our classmates were looking to be led by the hand through the course rather than understanding that it's graduate school.

It's not the first time in the program I saw this, but it's been awhile for me, as I hadn't taken a core course in awhile. I'm reminded of the students in ACCT701 that had trouble converting thousands to millions and back.

Grades are on compass for MADM and ISDS 710. Curious to know if any of you on the grade bubble for 710 got the bump you were looking for?

I figured that, but I can't imagine the core goal of the project being wildly different. I don't anticipate her giving the 2 previous sessions a 20 - 30 page, 2-part paper but the Fall 2018 course an assignment to create an interpretive dance routine on Youtube.

Even though it will surely be different, I'd like for someone to send me what she required during their session if they are willing.

Congrats! I'm surprised he never sent an email out updating the class or...maybe I'm not surprised at all.

DieDaily,

Thnks for the response. While stalking the course schedule, I happened to come across ONE open spot for the Meeks 760, so I thought I would jump onto it in the hopes that it would be pairable. I noticed that most people suggested not pairing it if it was with another instructor. I also saw a lot of responses about how rough ISDS 710 was, so I was a bit worried about that as well. I'm looking to double spec Marketing and DA, so ISDS 710 is a critical course for me as it is viable towards both.

Like everyone else, I want to finish as quickly as possible, but I have a very specific and time critical reason. If I can cut the program down by even a single session, it could potentially make a huge difference. At the same time, if I can manage to get into the Honors society as well, it would also probably make a significant difference, so I am trying to balance the two.

I think having to delete all those ACCT 701 email messages from my inbox was more time consuming than the final exam

Good luck. When I took it, it was Koksal's first course to teach. Saying it was rough is an understatement. The homework and practice problems would be pretty straightforward, then come exam time the problems looked like nothing we had covered. He posted recorded lecture videos that were typically 45 minutes to an hour long. Hopefully the course has changed though.

By any chance does anyone have any info on the MKT 705? Thought I saw it was relatively easy, but I am debating on taking ISDS710 instead.

I took it during Spring AP2, which was the first time it was offered. Not sure if there will be much help given since

1. It's only been taught once before.
2. A different professor is teaching the course this go around.
3. Not many were enrolled for it.

That's a good thought. You want to take it with Meeks. He's one of the best in the program.

Looks like Koksal is trying to re-work the class a little. He posted the syllabus yesterday. A kind poster here sent me the previous session syllabus a few days ago so I'm able to compare the 2 versions.

Now we have 6 weekly quizzes rather than 2 exams but it appears the same Excel assignments will be due each week. However, the Excel assignments are worth far less than they were before. Most of the points come from the quizzes. The good news is that he drops the lowest *week* score (quiz and assignment). My goal is to have a good enough score going into week 7 that I can relax.

Meeks is one of the better professors in the program. Good move grabbing his class. I paired the class with MADM752, so yes, it's doable.

Having the leeway to take a good instructor, like Meeks, and avoid a known bad one, like Felice Williams, was worth a lot more to me than finishing quickly. It's not going to be an easy path if you try to double up most every session.

I dropped Dr. Williams class because this forum scared me a bit. Hopefully, in the future, I can get Meeks. After I dropped Williams, I picked up Fin 701 with Vines. I hope he is an ok professor

Seem like ISDS 705 with Lin is going to be tough. the syllabus is up!!!
Plenty of late night reading and studying concepts.
Wow, I guess we are the not so lucky ones, Closed book/closed note exam.
Coming from MKt 701 with James I believe this class will be much more difficult to pass with an "A+" because there is no extra credit and only 3 exams that covers everlasting reading material.... This program does not get easier.
