Posted by Fasb on 7/4/18 at 12:08 am
Ok guys/girls, Due to my job, I am out of the country a lot and just wanted a good Southern Biscuit recipe I can share with my overseas friends. Please share if you have one. Also, I'd love to hear the way your grandma made them! Thanks!

Oh dang, one of the OG's of this forum. I think I dated you back to page 6. Thanks for the information on Vines and the encouragement.

Sir/Ma'am, you realize that Amazon can bring to your door right? Prime is same day shipping for most products. Basically, Wal-Mart wants people to drive to their location and pick up their stuff. Why do that? If I'm driving to Wal-Mart, I might as well go inside and do some impulsive shopping. The only people this benefits are people who are too scared to have packages laying outside all day while they are at work and people who drive by Wal-Mart on the way home.
Once AMZN starts installing secure package containers in everyone's yard or installs a butt load around the city ( customer gets a digital code sent to their mobile device to unlock), Wal-Marts model goes up in smoke. I hate both of these companies but that is not a good reason to buy stock in WMT. I'm sure there are better reasons. For instance, Wal-Mart has a grip on the population who has no internet service and retirees; however, both of those examples will soon fade away in the next 10-20 years. The younger generation embraces technology and internet will become available to everyone everywhere. Actually, Amazon is investing money to help every home have access to internet.
Oh and once Amazon takes over the LARGEST customer base in the United States (Pill Poppers) with their new pharmacy model, say goodbye to Wal-Greens too. I really hope that another company can counter this gigantic company before they destroy the classic retail model; however, I am afraid having customers pick-up merchandise will prove to be a fail in the long run.
I will say that Amazons downfall could be taxes in the near future. They have been getting a free pass with that from many states/countries for a long time. If they hit internet companies like Amazon with a 20% tax to protect physical stores, then Amazon may suffer.

I was thinking interest rates were going somewhere in the mid 4s these days
Actually, when the FED increases interest rates, people borrowing money pay more and savers earn more. With that in mind a FICO score of anything below 700 and a down payment of only 5% (shoot for 20%), rates below 5% will be difficult; however, not impossible. "Shopping around" is always a must. In my opinion, you may be able to achieve a 4.7% with a little bit of luck. I know you didn't ask but if I were you, I would not rush into a mortgage. I would wait 2 years, improve my credit and save 20% down ( not taken out of your 3-6 month Emergency fund). If you achieved this, lenders would crawl to you with very favorable rates. If your income does not allow you to save 20% in two years, or 15% in your case, then maybe just save another 5%. It really will make a world of difference.

And to give a little perspective I am late twenties single male and make about 65k a year. My only other debts are about 6k in student loans in which I pay $110/month and a car note that is $190/month with about 14 months left on
No reason to rush into a bad rate in your situation. Save more money, keep your emergency fund 3-6 months and wait until your car is payed off (14 months). After 14 months, you will have a whole lot better of a deal.
I dropped Dr. Williams class because this forum scared me a bit. Hopefully, in the future, I can get Meeks. After I dropped Williams, I picked up Fin 701 with Vines. I hope he is an ok professor
I think having to delete all those ACCT 701 email messages from my inbox was more time consuming than the final exam :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Barogen,
With ACCT 701, you should be fine to take two courses if you take Ambrosio, Fabio. According to this forum, he is the better option anyway.

The comments about both MKT 701 and ACCT 701 have been terrifying for me, as I was planning to try and double them up next year. It seems painful that ACCT 701, MKT 701, FIN 701, and MADM 701 are always offered together and all seem to be difficult courses to double up on.

I noticed that no one ever talks about the thesis. Is a thesis not required for this program?

The final for ACCT 701 was horrible. I was cursing the whole way through the exam. I was able to make a b+ for the final course grade; however, I took it solo and I am so glad this course is over. I feel for anyone who took this class along with any other course.
I honestly feel bad for anyone who made a C and below. McGee is so strict on no extra credit, no this and no that... Obviously, many people had rough grades because of format issues in assessments etc. To anyone who wishes to take ACCT 701 with McGee in the future, don't expect Dr. McGee to offer any real help and prepare to look at hours of YouTube videos explaining things/concepts that the professor fails to explain.
I'm sure she is busy in her face-to-face courses and with 450 online students, its hard to answer every question; however, if you know you are going to be teaching ACCT 701 into the foreseeable future, at least plan and record videos of the content that way in future classes, you could share them with the students instead of giving textbook answers or relying on other students to teach for you. I would love to have some videos of Dr. McGee (an accounting professional CPA) standing in front of a whiteboard and explaining the different sections of this course. I really believe that professors are lazy with their online classes.
How hard would it be to prerecord videos that would last the next 10 years? Instead, we have to hope the people on YouTube know what they are talking about. What if the professor walks into a face-to-face class and sits behind the desk, tells you to read ch 4, 5 and 6 and when someone asks a question, they just give you the book answer?
Other than that little rant< congrats to everyone who finished their courses. I'm sure you guys/girls in MKT had a hell of a time =)
