The material was certainly boring. Its Org Behavior. Only can get so enlightening. I did take some of the material and speak about it during some work presentations so that was cool.
Yes, reading those chapters towards the end was getting to be very monotonous.
I was really just skimming for key words and taking notes about half way through the session.

Here is what I have left....
Summer AP2 - ISDS 702 Koskal
Fall AP1 - Fin 701 / Vines
Fall AP2 - Econ 705 / Shaugnessy
That leaves ACCT 701, MADM 701, MADM 760, and 1 elective.
Any thoughts as to an elective? I know ISDS 705 was my double up shot. I may try and double up 1 or 2 here on out but not sure which yet.

I'll 3rd this. Kungu's class had its share of work but it was very fair. Biggest chore for me each week was getting through the 2 chapters of text reading, usually 70-80 pages, since I don't read at the speed of Spencer Reid.
I agree exactly. The writing assignments were short and easy subjects with minimal references required. The tests were straight forward and grading was fair and efficient.
This is my first course in the program but MADM 701 with Kungu is an easy A.
The reading was boring.

Well, it would seem as though Dr. McGee has taken pity on us after all. Thank goodness...

Good! Some common sense finally prevails.
Don't you dare email her about absolutely anything though.

MADM751 (Entrepreneurship) with Meeks? He is a good teacher. If you have him for MADM760, the MADM751 course is run the same way. Very enjoyable class and he's an easy grader. This one would be fine to double with something else and not go crazy.

Looking for info on ECON 705 with Shaughnessy as well.....thanks so much!

Just general FYI on James MKT701 project. Don't get me wrong this is probably the most time intensive course I have taken in the program (1 class left to graduate), but I think people are blowing this project out of the water. For future students, there is no reason to hit 20 pages on parts 1 and 2. I did the bare minimum (16 pages on part 1, the exact number of her provided project template and 10 pages on part 2 ) and received 390/400 for the combined project. I think probably people just go way overboard on part 1 and assume they need to do the same on part 2 to receive a similar grade. I figure I spent 10-12 hours on part 1, and maybe 4-6 on part 2. Don't kill yourselves people.
At least the tests have relevant questions that are doable if you read the text. I had a harder time with MADM701 (F Williams) that had test questions on incredibly irrelevant facts. Enjoy your week off everyone!

It's a challenging class if you don't stay on top of the work. If you already aren't, get comfortable with Excel. Watch some YouTube videos, take a quick Lynda.com course, experiment with formulas, etc. because a lot of people struggled with that at first. I work in Excel everyday, so I was fortunate in that regard, but a surprising number of people said that was a hurdle for them.
It also wouldn't hurt to at least see what linear regression in Excel looks like and maybe play with it a bit. The below video (9 min) is dry but I recommend following along on your computer as much as possible to get your feet wet. You'll be doing a lot of linear regression in the course. Shaughnessy will explain the details of what to look for, so don't think you need to be an expert going into the class, but I think it might help to have at least seen it before.

Once the class starts, try to get through the reading, video quizzes, and self assessment quiz as early in the week as possible, so you can focus on the main assignment, which can take several hours of work depending on your level of understanding. Also, he does Zoom (webcam) meetings 2 - 3 times a week. Attend those when you can or watch the recorded sessions. The live versions are better because he'll sometimes share extra tips for the homework that he will later edit out of the recorded versions.

FYI on James MKT701 project
Outside of there being a lot of writing, I don't quite understand what this project entails.

I had this course paired with ISDS 702, so my plate was full ... with that said, I 100% agree here. I did the absolute bare minimum and honestly half-assed the whole thing using the templates to my advantage. I got B's on both parts of the project but with the other graded items I still finished with an A in the course. I would have driven myself to insanity trying to get a perfect grade on those projects, when in reality, just meeting the requirements will suffice due to the lax grading. Is it the worst course? yeah probably, but this is an MBA program, and you have to put the time in.

My grader was particularly by the book, so I probably ended up putting in more effort than most. Even with the crappy grader, I just went down the template and answered every question.
For part 2, she said 20 pages, and after answering everything that's where I was at. I would have skipped things, but the guy took off beaucoup points for not giving enough competitors in part 1. I ended up being more verbose, as the grading rubric was unclear.
I ended up with a very high A in the class, so I could have done a lot less work and still pulled off an A.

Would it be suicidal to pair ISDS 710 (Darrat) with MADM 760 (Meeks).

Good Day, fellow MBA Candidates!
I am starting the program on July 2nd with MKT 701 (Darrat). From what I have read on these posts, the class itself is intense, but I haven't seen much in the way on an instructor review on Darrat. Helpful, horrible, available, etc. Any input would be nice and appreciated.
For what it's worth, I stumbled on this thread by accident and I am glad that I did because I have already gained quite an insight as to the classes and which instructors to aim for.

quote:That is a doable pairing but be prepared to do a lot of writing. ISDS 710 requires some reading and a 3 - 5 page paper and a forum post with classmate response most weeks. On top of that, you have 4 Excel exercises, which are easy but just add another wrinkle. And lastly, his final, comprehensive exam was pretty unfair during this most recent instance of the class, so I have to assume the exam or the assignments will be reworked to more closely align.
Would it be suicidal to pair ISDS 710 (Darrat) with MADM 760 (Meeks).
Meeks's class has weekly group work in the form of answering / talking through discussion questions on a powerpoint slide deck. You have to meet up over webcam and record part of your meeting with your team. Also, you have weekly (easy) quizzes, several solo discussion questions, and a 5 - 10 page term paper due at the end of the class. There is also a final powerpoint project with your group, but you can knock that out pretty quickly if you have a decent team.
quote:Do you mean MKT 710? MKT 701 isn't offered in the second Summer session but it is offered in the first Fall session. MKT 701 is also a required (core) class and is currently only taught by James. MKT 710 is an elective.
