I have a science background and struggle with IF I need the foundation classes.
I have a CompSci BS. I didn't take the foundational courses. ECON 705 was extremely mathematics intensive, and I needed to look up some refresher information on YouTube and the web, but I was able to get an A. ACCT 701 is pretty straightforward content-wise. You will most likely be ok without the foundational classes.

I have a math/science background.
Avoid White. ECON705 was all about running regressions via excel. A quick refresher on about week 2 of calc 1 (power rule and derivatives) is about the most you need with Dr. S.
I took the old BADM accounting/finance section when it was required. The finance section was a week and was simply time value of money calculations and the accounting section was repeated almost verbatim in ACCT701.
Every teacher in the program has offered a refresher/youtube videos, or a sheet on how to do things, so I really don't think if you have a math/science background you have anything to worry about.

Hello everyone. I applied pretty late to the program, and just got accepted. The MAIN reason I decided to apply to LSUS is because of this forum. More specifically, this thread has been a wealth of information about the program and is the biggest reason I considered LSUS.
I'm currently set up for:
Summer AP2 - MADM 760 - Heller
Fall AP1 - FIN 701 - Vines
Fall AP1 - MKT 705 - Kim
Fall AP2 - ISDS 710 - Darrat
Anyone see any issues with this? One of my main concerns is that I will be on vacation for the first week of July, right when MADM 760 starts. I also wanted to try and pair up something for AP2 but the only classes still available are ECON 705 with White (A horrible choice from what I've read) and ISDS 705 with Darban.
Is it a better idea to just take ISDS 710 alone, as I read there is quite a bit of work involved?
Anyway, thank you all again for the fantastic forum. I look forward to being a contributor in the future.
Oh. Forgot to mention: I'd prefer courses without group work, mainly because I'm current an expat based in Asia. I also work full time about 50 hours a week with a family. I do realize that doubling up will be a struggle. I don't want to end up with an impossible load, but I do want to finish as quickly as possible, even if it means a few sacrifices.

This forum is wonderful. I just had a conversation with the director of another program that I was admitted to, but have declined. I let them know the main reason I passed on their school is because I felt I going into the program blind. There is not a single word out there from previous or current student about the MBA program. The only "reviews" that are online are from their web page. No THANK YOU!

Should I take MADM 701 and then MADM 760? Or it does not matter?
And MADM 760 with Meeks or Heller?
Note: this will be my first course in program

Can't speak for Heller but I would 100% recommend taking Meeks where possible. He's one of the best. 760 was my first course in the program, paired with ECON 705, and I feel like these two courses with their combination of writing and math prepared me well for the remainder of the program.
The workload in MADM 701, MKT 701, and ISDS 710 are the most in the program (in that order IMO). So just be mentally ready and have your personal schedule worked out for those 3 classes. Most would say to take those classes by themselves.

I haven't heard any recommendations for the best prof. for FIN 701. Did anyone have a good professor??

I was dead set on attending Umass - Dartmouth until I started reading through this forum. It is amazing the wealth of knowledge in here! You really can't find much information on many MBA programs.
I was a finance major for my undergrad but seem to have forgotten most all of it. What is the book used for Econ 705? I think I might purchase it ahead and time to brush up on the material.

Vines is the known commodity. He's decent. He's rough around the edges and you have to extrapolate a ton of information from the condensed text, but if you put forth the effort you can learn something.

If you read back in the forum, you'll see that LSUS has been changing over to a free text structure. I have a pdf of the book used this past Dec if you want to prepare with that. Put your email here and I'll send it to you.

Welcome @baroqen! I had Heller for MADM760. I thought that he was a very good professor.
There are no group projects. Every week there are writing assignments and an exam. The exams were easy.
There is a large 30+ page term project, but he breaks-up the sections into weekly or bi-weekly papers, so it is manageable. At the end of the class, you assemble all of the sections into a larger paper and submit that as the final project. The final submission is not graded since all of the sections had been previously graded.
There also three smaller 2-5 page application forum papers with two 1 page responses to other student's postings. The forum papers were direct applications of weekly chapter topics to real companies and real problems/situations.
I learned a lot in his class.

I took that class. The second part is always lighter than the first. That’s how it was for everyone in my class last semester.

Hi FL Sun,
I understand your concerns, but one of the benefits is 3 credits earned in 2 weeks!

I was in the same boat bj03sm. The other contender for me was the UMass Amherst. This forum and the wealth of information made me feel comfortable with moving forward with LSUS. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Icongeauxtigers.png)

This forum is wonderful. It helped me make the decision to go with LSUS as well. It's a strong point in their favor, and it's nothing that the school setup. I just wish they'd work on making the student experience a bit better.
MKT701:
Still slogging my way through this idiotic project. It's so much BS that I feel like I'm learning nothing. I am wasting a week of my life trying to do a good job to get an A in the class.
This is the worst assignment in the entire MBA program. It's all in the land of make believe.

Sorry, this is off topic, but any responses might also help someone in a similar situation in the future, so here it goes...
I made it through the phone interview for a VP of IT position at a hospital and they want to talk to me in person. The remainder of the hiring decision process consists of four two-hour panel interviews with the physician leadership, operations+nursing, IT leaders, and the C-suite/VPs. I have never interviewed at this level before and I am seeking guidance. Are there any CXOs or VPs out there that can impart any words of wisdom?
Thanks for any assistance!

Lol amen mtntreks. The course should just be renamed BS701. My project is 30-40 pages of bs.
My advice to anyone taking is just persevere through it. The timelines aren't realistic to do a good job. Worst thing you can do is quit because of overwhelming amount of work. Understand James doesn't grade and these poor graders are just as overwhelmed with the nonsense as us.

Best advice I received about MKT701 is to just stick with it. In my opinion this class is like running, its more of a mind game where you just gotta keep going. The material is not that challenging. Sure enough a lot of people dropped out early on.
I'm so over it though. I wrote and submitted the final application assignment today even though it was the worst and shortest paper I've written in this class. Mentally I just wanted to know it was done and off my plate. My mind just could not devote any more time to writing and researching. It will for sure be my lowest writing assignment grade in this class.
