re: IRS computers crashed 10 days after House committee sent letter asking...

Given how eager you say Obama was to punish his political enemies don't you find it rather strange, liar, that the ONLY applicant group denied tax exempt status was a LIBERAL one?
You claim you're a CPA -- I'm sorry, but you can't be this stupid.
It was never about turning down these groups. It was all about delaying any action on these groups. If the IRS had turned them down, then they would have had their ticket to go to Tax Court and get their exemption claim adjudicated by the courts.
The whole point of this corruption was to make sure that these groups were forced to sit out the 2012 elections. Therefore, Lerner and her cohorts (can you say, VALERIE JARRETT) made sure that they delayed any action on their exemption applications by asking RIDICULOUS and pointless questions -- questions they aren't allowed to ask in the first place.
The result -- many of these organizations are STILL waiting. While Obama's brother and the rest of the liberal groups were acted upon immediately.
Nice try, HACK.

They turned over anything they had that came from Lerner, was sent to Lerner, or which Lerner was copied in on.
So, why is the House Ways and Means Committee still trying to get the White House to turn over e-mails it had with Lerner???
quote:
House Ways and Means Committee: is holding its hearing. Chairman Dave Camp, a Michigan Republican, has also asked the White House to turn over any emails between its offices and Lerner and requested that the Department of Justice launch an investigation and audit into the hard drive crash.
CNN article from 2 days ago ....
Add the fact that the White House has claimed Executive Privilege in every one of these scandals and you're actually stupid enough to believe they won't do so here???

quote:We still have a few machines on XP. Not a funding issue. Software issues.
Every equipment failure within an agency so poorly funded it still relies on Windows XP is not a conspiracy.
quote:And you want to put them in charge of healthcare?
Are you surprised that a government agency is behind the times technologically?
Posted on 6/22/14 at 9:29 pm to Rex
quote:So.. You are claiming that email cannot be backed up on Windows XP?
They have an enormous mandate and are so poorly funded they can't afford to upgrade their computers from Windows XP after Microsoft has dropped support for that operating system. At the time Lois Lerner took her job the IRS only had server space to archive 3 months of employee emails, and then recently managed to up that to 6 months.

how predictable. The problem is we don't give the government enough money! Rex really is a comic genius.
More like a pathetic hack.

I'd rather switch Gowdy on to this committee.
Gowdy gets his chance Monday and Tuesday, when the the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee will have Koskinen in its hot seat. 7:00 PM tomorrow night and back at it at 9:30 AM on Tuesday. Should be some feisty exchanges (Gowdy, Jordan, Issa, Chaffetz, Cummings, Norton, Clay, etc.).

Hmmmm, that will be a rough day for Mr. Koskinen.
I also hope Brother Elijah brings his 'A' game as well.

That's part of his 'A' game. That, and pure, unadulterated partisan hackery.

The honorable Brother Elijah better make sure he's got a hot mic

If the Democraps had ANY integrity whatsoever, they would insist that he recuse himself given the fact that he has been knee-deep in this sh!t from the beginning. I hope one of the other committee members calls his ignorant a$$ out on his corruption and filth.

I'd rather switch Gowdy on to this committee. I don't think there was actual lawbreaking in Benghazi. Incompetence and negligence- sure. I think there is a very good chance there was actual law-breaking with this IRS stuff (especially this laughable coverup).
Agreed.
This IRS scandal is something that could sink this administration to an unrecognizable dumpster fire.

They have an enormous mandate and are so poorly funded
Their IT budget is over 1.8 Billion per year (requested FY2014 budget is 2.2 Billion). There is no reality where that sort of IT budget is considered "poorly funded".

Please, explain how this is "poorly funded" before I RA you for trolling.

quote:Where are the subject file copies of Lerner's emails that the Internal Revenue Manual required of IRS employees? LINK Please note that IRM 1.10.3.2.3 was in effect before Lerner's computer crashed.
Also, at great expense to an agency that can ill afford this witch hunt, the IRS has provided THOUSANDS of Lerner emails from the 2009-2011 crash period because they were recovered from other IRS recipients.
quote:Didn't Lerner proclaim that she had not violated any laws or IRS policies and procedures? Where are the permanent record copies of her emails that IRS policies and procedures required her to maintain?
Emails as Possible Federal Records
1.All federal employees and federal contractors are required by law to preserve records containing adequate and proper documentation of the organization, functions, policies, decisions, procedures, and essential transactions of the agency. Records must be properly stored and preserved, available for retrieval and subject to appropriate approved disposition schedules.
2.The Federal Records Act applies to email records just as it does to records you create using other media. Emails are records when they are:
•Created or received in the transaction of agency business
•Appropriate for preservation as evidence of the government’s function and activities, or
•Valuable because of the information they contain
3.If you create or receive email messages during the course of your daily work, you are responsible for ensuring that you manage them properly. The Treasury Department’s current email policy requires emails and attachments that meet the definition of a federal record be added to the organization’s files by printing them (including the essential transmission data) and filing them with related paper records. If transmission and receipt data are not printed by the email system, annotate the paper copy. More information on IRS records management requirements is available at https://erc.web.irs.gov/Displayanswers/Question.asp?FolderID=4&CategoryID=5 or see the Records Management Handbook, IRM 1.15.1 https://publish.no.irs.gov/IRM/P01/PDF/31421A03.PDF).
4.An email determined to be a federal record may eventually be considered as having historical value by the National Archivist prior to disposal. Therefore, ensure that all your communications are professional in tone.
5.Please note that maintaining a copy of an email or its attachments within the IRS email MS Outlook application does not meet the requirements of maintaining an official record. Therefore, print and file email and its attachments if they are either permanent records or if they relate to a specific case.
