The thread on who was the best freshman DB reminded me of a discussion I had last week. Between Jamarcus and Mett, who you taking to lead your team?

Both are large QBs with cannons on their shoulder, JR a little more mobile and larger body of work while Mett only had one great year.

Who you taking?

I like Mett a lot but I gotta give the edge to JR, who I believe also had a substantial statistical advantage if you compare 2006 to 2013.

JR in his prime with all those receivers and Cam as a coordinator would have been a sight to see. JR.

JR. Some are so blinded by his pro career.

Fisher was no slouch so I don't think Cam makes a sig diff. I take JR by a pretty good margin

Same. Both had gigantic arms, great height and toughness. Both suffered from poor decision making at times. Neither had the "it" factor that causes QBs to excel in the biggest moments.

I think Mett was a better 3rd down QB and that is what usually separates QBs in the NFL, but as someone posted before JR was better in college. If Mett had one more year with the type of talent that will be across the oline protecting him he may have progressed and been considered better. Watching both of them was entertaining though, it's fun having offense that can be multiple.

Mett was a really good QB for LSU last year but JR was better in his last year.

Begrudgingly you have to give it to JR (only with reservations because he flamed out badly at Oakland)

Russell's mobility gives him the edge for me. Not that he was a great dual-threat but at least he could escape pressure.

JaMarcus and it's not even relatively close.

Hands down JR. He had more zip and power on his throws, was more mobile, and he was so hard to take down in the pocket. I specifically remember corner blitz coming sometimes and having clean shots at him and just bouncing off. JR had a good coach in Jimbo, but We all saw what Cameron did for Mett in one year, just think what he could do with JR. Some people just forget how good JR was in college. This isn't a knock at Mett either, I love Mett. I just hope Mett handles his NFL career better than JR, I know he has already had a few bumps in his football career.

Mett was way better than JR with only one seception... his arm. However, Mett also had a great arm.

Mett read defenses better than he did. I Also remember JR screwing things up every game and having to come back from behind too much.

This question should be a no brainer. Mett at LSU and he will have a much better career than JR did which is not really saying much anyway.

i was a kid when hodson played. herb tyler was a FR same yr as me so going with that year and after those two (Mett and JR) along with rohan are the best i've seen at LSU.

and rohan may be my favorite while jarvis landry has been my favorite receiver. but i'm an eric martin fan. i love hands over speed (no homo).
