What a joke What other countries require every student to be tested at all grade levels, and to have their scores averaged against US scores?
Go check out the science, computer, and engineering schools on most US college campuses. Take a look at the nationalities. Let me know what you find.

5) Common Cores own advocates admit that their standards will leave graduates a year behind students from other countries
LINK
Instead of saying that the Common Core is intended to replicate the standards of other countries, the website for the Common Core uses language that says the standards are “informed” by or have “consulted” international standards.

The CCSS and Singapore Mathematics Syllabus describe similar levels of rigor. Where grade placement discrepancies occur between the two documents, they are usually within one year of each other.

Yet somehow we are the idiots in this conversation.

6) And I can promise you that the feds are laying low right now. Their real intent is to allow the English and Math standards to become integrated, and to tie those in with substantial funds.
Then they will play a huge role in introducing the Science and Social Studies standards. Which is where the instrusion will begin

Oh, do you mean the elite students of other countries? How shocking. And they came here for graduate level learning, even tho their countries are so much more superior in education? Their culture, and lack of opportunity has nothing to do with it, huh?
And yet you still buy into the bullshite that their schools are more superior than ours?
And you want to know why people in this thread think you are the idiots

As someone who grew up living in different states (Military kid) and now raising military kids...6 states total i can tell you we need a standard system..I spent my HS years sleeping in class because i had alaredy learned in middle school what louisiana was teaching in HS. have lived in states were education was below LA standards those kids suffer as adults..you can travel from louisiana to texas for school and end up being a year behind or ahead..why not use a common set of standards?? for most who are against they have never lived outside the state but more and more kids are living their born states to purse higher education and jobs..lets set up for success

Because that has nothing to do with public / private partnerships, greater research funding, access to cutting edge tools, and large alumni endowments.
It definitely has to do with the smart kids in remedial classes we are dumping into those institutions,

7) CC is just the latest cycle of Ed improvements. Follow the money. Gates foundation is heavily invested in the changes. The biggest change for them of course is, computerized testing
Which of course can only be accomplished on a Window 7 or higher OS, which requires billions to be spent on upgrades by states. One of the main reasons Jindal cited today as a reason to get out was the requirement that the tests had to be bought wityhout a bid process. How nice for Bill Gates
Then in a few years or so when those devices are beyond repair. Guess what? Another round of cash in the Microsoft coffers. Which will be just about the time states will began saying, CC produced no better results than NCLB.
Imagine that

Define "better results".
Honestly, if the high school drop out/failure rate rises slightly but the college drop out /failure rate drops by the same or more percentage, I would consider that "better results".

Because thats not how the fed works?
Obamacare. What happens in a few years to states that accept the Medicare expansion?
They wave the apple, to get you hooked. States cannot afford the computer upgrades, so they will have to accept whatever comes with CC after they buy in. Because of the money.
Its not a conspiracy, its the way DC does business

So you guys are clearly trying to compete with Alabama and Mississippi on the dumbest state lists. We'll have none of those fancy educational standards either.

Of course. The fed didnt just strip someone of their trademark just because they could?
And you dont think that same BS wont find its way into how global warming is taught, or how America was founded when Science and SS standards are adopted?

Jindal is such a phony. Why didn't he do this sooner? Because he had to see the poll numbers first.
He's the republican version of Bill Clinton with his moistened index finger in the political air. I don't believe he has any principles beyond that which will further his career.

Bingo.
We can debate till the cows come home if CC is right or wrong for Louisiana.
But I damn guarantee you NONE of that played into Prostitute Bobby's decision.
Nope. All he cares about if future 2016 poll numbers. Point blank.

Hope they (Louisiana) pull the trigger on it.
(I was somewhat surprised to see Louisiana go with Common Core initially)
Come join the non-CC good guys, and allow the professional educators and the families in your own states to make the educational decisions for their children.
A heavy-handed, top-down, centralized national government has no role here.
