for the last few weeks every time i lay down to sleep I have to hold back a cough from a tickle in my throat. once i start coughing its a good 10-15 minutes before i can stop coughing every min or so. is this just allergies or could there be something else wrong.

Daughter has been having a similar issue, and the doctor put her on allergy medicine. She also asthma so that probably makes it worse.

You have sleep aids....or you need them....one or the other.

Are you on any rx blood pressure meds?
I had the same issue in April/May. Took some Robutussin as needed until it subsided. That did the trick every time.

Nevertheless, try some Robitussin and see if it alleviates your symptoms as well as it did mine.
ETA: Just get the kind for coughs. And make sure it's the nighttime kind.

Dude I've had something like this issue since February. It was a debilitating cough for nearly two months. Constantly hacking trying to get the shite out of my throat.
Still going on just not as bad, or I'm just dealing with it. Hate it

Umm....have you seen a doctor about this. You sure it's not Pertussis?(whooping cough).

Is it always at night? Are you also short of breath at all? Any chest pain? Does sitting up help?
