Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) criticized former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for complaining that she was “dead broke” after they left the White House.
“I mean, there is a lot of Americans struggling, if she wants to come to Eastern Kentucky to my state and talk to miners who are out of work and see the despair in their faces and talk about her personal plight as being the poor spouse of a president, she is welcome to take that message around the country,” Paul explained.
Paul pointed to Hillary Clinton’s $8 million book deal that she signed before the pair left the White House--as well as reports of the couples net worth of over $100 million.
“The sad song of her reporting her personal financial difficulties and the fact that she hasn’t driven herself in a car in 17 years, it doesn’t sound like she’s going to connect with a lot of the Middle Class,” she said.
Paul added that Clinton's failure in Benghazi was a “deal killer” which would doom her if she chose to run for president.
"I don't think she can win the presidency," he said.
Paul also criticized Clinton’s eagerness to arm the rebels in Syria--a policy that most Americans disagreed with.
“I think she’s going to have some surprises when she gets out of her limousine and meets the American people,” he said.

Maybe but not too much. I think he's gotta come at these scumbags with force. Look how far Romney got with being meek.

exactly. if he wants people to listen then he has to get their attention.

I agree...but he is coming out too strong too soon. By the time of the election, assuming they both are in it, he'll be coming across as a complete butt-hole if he keeps this pace up.

I like that he's confronting her but there is a reason the Clintons have been powerful for 20+ years. They're not dumb people.

He is smarter than anybody they're going to run, even Hillary.
He's a better speaker than anybody they're going to run, even Hillary.
The press is already "all in" for this "historic first womyn President" - so, I would attack early, attack often, with the only admonition to keep it fresh - which he is doing here - this is fresh material, so a nice, relevant fresh attack is warranted.

Ok...fair point.

Also a fair point. It is fresh material so probably a good idea to come on strong before she gains momentum (which is inevitable). Delay her gaining of momentum.

He can run as a populist without 10% of the rhetoric of Obama. He's trying just hard enough.

She deserves it. It was a really stupid thing for her to say and just further defines how out of touch the elites in DC really are.
What she meant was they were in debt, not broke. But even being in debt with millions in financing already lined up and million dollar homes as assets is completely disingenuous.
I don't know what she was thinking with that answer, but it was dumb and a slap in the face to the millions of people who actually are struggling making house payments and paying for tuition or other things for their children.

I don't think his strategy is to derail the press, because the msm will NEVER support a GOP candidate, hitler could run as a dem and the media would support him. Rand's strategy should be to convince the establishments R's (freak the establishment R's btw) that he is strong enough to beat her and not as crazy as his dad.

For better or worse, I'd assert that now is about the time he has to do so. Be smart enough to accept it for what it is.

Yeah, the Clinton machine hasn't really entered the mouthy, shots across the bow stage. Different approach, I suppose.

The Clinton Machine is formidable when you're running against crappy opponents.

I wish I was so "broke" that I could have an $8M book deal. Or have people chauffeur me around for 17 years.
Rand needs to speak out early and often.

I like it,if anything pound away even harder. You have plenty of ammo and she needs to be put on and kept on the defensive.
It is easy to campaign when the media has your opponents on the run and all you field is softball questions.
Go negative, and stay negative, because that is what the Clintons will do to you.

What happened to the Right's mantra of "the least qualified ever to be elected president"? The man just got elected US Senator. At least Obama had been a state senator. Isn't it a bit disingenuous to claim Obama was unqualified but then back Rand? And I don't know if you said this, I'm saying generally.
But I know the answer to my question... What applies to Democrats does not apply to Republicans. Cruz born in another country? No problem. Bush had the NSA spying on us even without any legal authority? He's not president. The Lebanon bombings were 50 times worse in terms of casualties and incompetence (they had barbed wire ammo-less guards) and was covered up AND we invaded fricking Grenada two days later! No problem... Reagan was God.
Yeah I know the rules. Experience will not be an issue. Because he's. republican.
