The Wall Street Journal agrees. When you can't debate the message.. attack the messenger, right? Same ole empty take from progs..

quote:

The task force the Justice Department is reviving was originally launched in the aftermath of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. It was scheduled to meet on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, but given the terror attacks of that day it didn't meet, and the group's work was quickly eclipsed by the response to those attacks and the effort to defeat al Qaeda in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and elsewhere.

Now, Mr. Holder said in a statement, "we also must concern ourselves with the continued danger we face from individuals within our own borders who may be motivated by a variety of other causes, from antigovernment animus to racial prejudice.''

Cooper said plenty of presidents dealt with critical speech, particularly in opposition to the Vietnam War and even the Iraq War. He said no president ever responded like this.

Wrong. Lincoln jailed newspaper editors/publishers who were critical of the Union (who were located in Union states, BTW).

I agree! That is why I'm convinced the obama radicals will NEVER relinquish power either in 2014 or 2016. The massive influx [invasion] of illegals across our southern border is part of the effort by the radicals [notice I didn't say democrat] to insure power remains in radical hands. There is more to this massive movement of illegals than we're being told. IMO we haven't seen anything like we're about to witness. Already many prominent democrat leaders in the Senate are expressing valid alarm about the seemingly reckless actions of this administration. We saw these concerns expressed about this insane Bergdahl - High Profile Taliban swap. IMO Obama and company have suddenly moved sharply to the left, effectively abandoning any pretext of democratic rule. Unless all Americans [or a determined majority] abandon their petty divisiveness and unite against this real threat, we will see the rise of tyranny in America.

What a mess!

When do the Obama/Holder types consider the "racism" problem done/over/solved? What has to happen exactly?

Attorney General Eric Holder says those threats include individuals the government deems anti-government or racially prejudiced.

And what are Holder/Obama's definitions of "anti-government" and "racially prejudiced"?

This administration is setting unreal precedents as though there will never be another Republican administration. I can't wait until a Republican president uses these same methods only against liberal groups and directly points to Obama as their justification. Sure will be fun to watch Reid and Pelosi stomp and yell about the President using his pen and phone.

I'm not sure that I would have said this a year ago - but I'm leaning towards thinking that this group of radicals in the current administration aren't going to willingly relinquish power. Or rather, they will go above and beyond to attempt to ensure that they remain in power beyond 2014 or even 2016. Hell, Roosevelt ran and was elected 4 times. Now, there is a two-term limit in the constitution, but when has this president ever been concerned with the constitution?

Foreboding Omen....indeed! IMO the radicals in this administration are capable of unimagined evil. They are simply waiting for the right moment. In meantime they will continue to push, threaten, attempt to marginalize the opposition, stonewall Congressional investigations, etc.

Repeat a lie often enough.....and eventually people will begin to believe the lie.

Right...but if I recall Lincoln [and the union] was in the middle of a declared war. If my memory serves me right during a declared war the President can suspend indivdual rights...including Habeas Corpus. I seem to recall barack "The Fraud" obama said the war on terrorism is over. Think maybe that's why he releasing all those Taliban [four star generals] from Gitmo?

So your pal obama says the war on terror is over .....right? It appears somebody forget to tell Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

Personally I believe this administration [including this DOJ] is livid because they have NOT been able to achieve their goal - which is to fundamentally transform this country into a socialist-marxist utopia. Therefore they are becoming more reckless and bold in their attempt to impose their will on everyone....and that includes you.

Would never happen. The amendment process is a bitch, and it was designed to be (thank goodness). Also, for something of that magnitude, things would get ugly quickly.

I do, however, think that the Obamas will still reside in Washington beyond 2016 and try like hell to influence policy.

I'm not saying that they would be successful at it, just that I wouldn't put it past them to try. There would be an unprecedented amount of blowback, though if that was attempted.

It's a very dubious source.

But ignoring that, it's hard to really measure what something like this means. On one hand, most of us acknowledge that the threat of domestic terror is real, if not really prevalent, and that there should be some federal guarding against that.

On the other hand, this could certainly be the groundwork for future intrusions against political foes in the name of security. Furthermore, it continues to be disturbing that folks like Holder are so concerned with anti-government and racial violence that may claim 10-15 lives a year, but think the country should largely disregard the far greater toll of lives taken for petty cash or iPods, largely perpetrated by one demographic.
