Samsung galaxy S5 just not for me

Beside the camera, I'm having a hard time finding anything I like about his phone.
I already had to do a hard reset after only one week.
I got an otter box for it at purchase and the volume buttons never worked right ( plus bulky as hell )
I get a new case and when I put it in my pocket the screen button keeps getting pressed and whatever app I had opened gets used. ( It opened the music app while in my pocket and started playing " fricking problems " while I was walking into a restaurant.
The messaging app sucks
The charger plug is a pain in the arse. Plus it doesn't work well with my current charger.
The ADs all over the screen suck ( how you get that off? )
I do like the "ok google" feature

I have the S5, and I don't like it either. It's too late for me to bring it back.

You sound like a former iPhone user. I will admit that i used iPhone and switched to Samsung and absolutely hated it! I HATE touchwiz. I then got away from Samsung and got a Moto X which runs stock Android and I love it. The LG phones are really nice too.

You should have just played it off and kept walking like it's your entrance theme song.

Download one you like. Glory of Android.

Use a lock screen? You can download one you like. Glory of Android.

Download a custom launcher and make it do what you want. Glory of Android.

Root your device and flash a custom rom, including Stock Android.
I'll sound like a fanboy but there really isn't an excuse for android to be a total pain in the arse unless you guys can only work with an out of the box product. The android OS can be whatever it you want it to be and do just about whatever it is you want it to do. You just have to make it do it.

That's almost certainly your fault.

Download your choice of app to replace it.
I have a 5S for work and an S5 for personal use. The Apple is about simplicity while the Galaxy is about versatility. Versatility does require more tech savvy though.
Also the Galaxy is designed for a man's hands, which is nice.

do yourself a favor and use Google Hangouts, which already comes with the phone. You can enable SMS on it so it handles both your SMS and your Google + chat if you use that. Either way it is a pretty good app for messaging.

I have an S3, and I don't know what any of that crap you're talking about even is.
Install CyanogenMod 10 rom on it, it's a lot closer to stock android. I hate when manufacturers think they know better than Google and try to customize the frick out of the OS. Google knows what they're doing, leave it the frick alone!

Should have gotten a Nexus or Moto X. I find Samsung to be the laggiest of the android phones, even when playing with them in the stores

I upgraded from a galaxy S1 to S5 and so far have been loving every minute. I almost upgraded to the S4 until I saw the S5 was coming out recently so I decided to hold off.
No problems with messaging, ads, or the base software. The only complaint I have is the call quality has significantly been reduced from my S1. Otherwise, it meets my expectations across the board (not hard to do upgrading from the S1).

I really don't like my s4. If it weren't due the screen, I would despise it, but it has certainly been the best part of the phone.
I have a moto g coming in next week that will replace the s4
