I have AT&T. Do they allow jailbreaking on the S5?

No, the AT&T and Verizon S5's haven't been rooted yet, so you're stuck on touchwiz. I would just sell the phone on ebay/craigslist like someone suggested and buy a Moto X or Nexus 5.

The going rate I see on craigslist is between $380-500

I wish I had the time to customize crap these days. I know I would love android if I were in college and had hours to tool around with my phone. As it is I need it to work out of the box which is why I am back migrating to Apple.

You are not stuck with touchwiz. Download Nova launcher and you will be golden.

Just go to the playstore and type in nova launcher download it and tweak some stuff. There is a nova setting and a phone setting. Use the nova settings.

Change the transitions to something simple. Do infinite scrolling on the home screen. Do multiple docking bars. Persistent google bar. Swipe up gesture for apps and swipe down for notification.

You will enjoy your phone.

The hard reset I've always experienced with Galaxy S series phones.

I have had the S2 Skyrocket and S4 and have never had a problem where I had to do a hard reset.

Then you're a lucky SOB Lol. My wife's always had the same phone as me and all her S series phones had issues. Funny you mention skyrocket I Dev'd for that and the S2 back in the day.

I may be in the minority, but I have never had an issue with any stock android device and the only thing I ever rooted was my kids Kindle Fire when they were tired of it..

The messaging app sucks

do yourself a favor and use Google Hangouts, which already comes with the phone. You can enable SMS on it so it handles both your SMS and your Google + chat if you use that. Either way it is a pretty good app for messaging.

Just wish it had a native pop up notification. I think Textra is based off of it. It is amazing.

I have an S3, and I don't know what any of that crap you're talking about even is.

Install CyanogenMod 10 rom on it, it's a lot closer to stock android. I hate when manufacturers think they know better than Google and try to customize the frick out of the OS. Google knows what they're doing, leave it the frick alone!

HATE touchwiz. I then got away from Samsung and got a Moto X which runs stock Android and I love it.
I cringe everytime an iPhone user leaves for a Samsung phone. Need to get something with stock
