Damn the plane crash looks bad, made me grimace. The hamburgler should be the #1 suspect in that bank robbery.

Don't worry kids, the plane's pilot, Ronald McDonald, 59 of Des Plaines, IL is reportedly in good condition at a local hospital. Mayor McCheese is on the scene, he reports that the gyroscope was missing from the plane, causing it to crash. The Hamburglar was seen at the hangar earlier today, the Mayor says if they catch him they are going to grill him.

"MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - We're learning a little bit more about what caused the plane to crash and the timeline of events. We spoke with someone very close to this situation who has more on the pilot of the plane.
Shortly before 11 a.m. a plane went down in the parking lot of McDonald's.
The pilot, Ray Martin, and one other man, Mike Brown, own the plane. We talked to Brown's son, Greg. He's close with Martin and said Martin knew the plane was going to crash.
"He knew that plane was going to the ground and he had to get it there however he could without hurting anyone or anything," Brown said.
Brown said the plane had been grounded in Monroe since November. The engine had just been re-built and re-installed. Brown said Martin had taken the plane up to make sure everything was working properly.
“He started having fuel issues. And according to his mayday the engine started cutting out and it died when he was trying to get back to the Monroe Regional Airport," Brown said.
Brown said Martin is in stable condition, but has a long road of recovery in front of him.
"He is a very experienced crop duster. And to be truthful with you the conversations I've had with people, rescuers at the scene, I think a general aviation pilot would have never gotten that plane on the ground without hurting other people or killing himself," Brown said."

Damn, that was one of my good friends from high school who crashed. Not good.
When I saw his name, in the News Star article, I wondered if that was the same guy. Haven't thought about that guy since the days of The Derrick. Hope he recovers quickly.

I found out it was Ray around 9 PM last night. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery Ray.
From the accounts I got last night, he did a miraculous job putting it down without hurting others.

I know they called a Code Green at the hospital in monroe when they first heard a plane had crashed into a McDonald's as they had no idea what size plane, etc.
The pilot being a crop duster played a big part in this guy being able to do what he did. Those crop dusters are some damn good pilots, but crazy as frick in a good way.

What kind of plane? I'm assuming a small Cessna or something?

I kinda freak my wife's aunt out when she saw it happen.
Her business is across the street, she says the pilot did an excellent job of crash landing.
Could have been a looooooot worse

Apparently there is another Ray Martin crop duster pilot in NELA. What are the odds of that? Turns out our Marto is fine and dandy, well he didn't crash yesterday anyway, and was spotted pulling 4 G's spraying a cotton field south of Winnsboro yesterday evening. This is good news for us, but still sucks for the other Ray. Not sure our Marto could survive another crash. His last one broke several dozen bones.
