They went from possibly going to a regional in Lafayette as the 2 seed to hosting a Super Regional.

I agree, this tournment was huge for the Tigers. Just wish we'd chill with the dogpiling in Hoover. We used to mock other teams that did this. And by we, I mean Wally Pontiff.

This is not the championship every other year LSU program of the 1990's. College ball continues to get more competitive and some of these players were born the year Warren Morris hit the walk off homer in 1996.

Given the relative rarity of a championship currently, there is no problem with dogpiling for an achievement such as this.

Bertman would have rather been at the casino in Vegas than playing in the SEC tourney. He was more worried about regionals. Back then you had to survive those 4 day one regional to Omaha and you had to have your pitchers ready.

I'll never forget last year when we played a regular season series at Bama, we won the first two games and they barely scraped a win on Sunday and proceeded to dogpile to celebrate not getting swept in their own ball park. I'm sure some gump somewhere started printing the national championship t-shirts afterwards

Yes. Let's play with 0 fire or care during the postseason.

Bertman held his team back in the SEC tournament. All he wanted was to win one game so that all three pitchers could get their work in. He didn't want his team to spend too much emotion the week before the regionals.

Well, it's a different format now, so sometimes, like this year for LSU, the SECC was pretty important.

Yes, yes it was. But that weekend in Oxford was pretty important as well. I didn't see any dogpile that Sunday.

I'm not hopping mad about it, I know that we will do it as long as Mainieri is here, and at his rate of winning conference titles, we will do it a lot.

Just an observation.

Agreed. This year in particular there was much to celebrate after the run we've been on the last couple weeks which in all likelihood landed us a national seed. The team should be excited
