Why would he leave his current job?

I'd love him, but he's already built a nice program at TCU. He's not leaving.

I don't know if he would leave his current gig, but Darin Hendrickson is doing good things at St Louis U. So he knows how to find kids with talent and money, and get them into a tough school in a big city.

The tuition is the big challenge.
ULL doesn't affect Tulane in any significant way in any sport.

From my understanding Tulane's early 2000s teams were built primarily on juco transfers.

After Katrina the program never was the same.

Those teams probably had more D1 transfers than JUCO transfers. Tulane's not really had a history of dipping into the JUCO ranks that often.

Back then there was no sit out rule for D1 transfers though, so summer collegiate leagues were like free agent recruiting combines.

I would give Jim Wells a call.

If this incoming coach can figure out how to work out the scholarship issues, Tulane can be fricking money. That program has so much potential.

NO! Stay away. He's the only coach on staff that I actually like.

Doubtful. I don't know how much he makes now but he's got it pretty good.

Some have mentioned the coach at Sam Houston. Worked under Graham.

But he might then jump right to Rice when Graham is done there.

Heard from several Tulane boosters that they had began to form a search committee earlier this week and that the holdup is regarding Jones' buyout.

They are going to contact Mark Kingston and former LSU and current Ole Miss assistant Cliff Goodwin for sure.

No question it is the top job currently open.

Rick Jones was good for Tulane. He is the type of guy that could have won big at LSU after skip retired. But he wasn't interested in our gig and Smoke had the hot inside track.

I wish coach Jones the very best with his health and I appreciate the years he dedicated to coaching and mentoring young men.
