Can you feel the love tonight- The Lion King

Might be the best.

Little Mermaid is strong from start to finish..may be the best Disney soundtrack (though LK is up there as well, and is my favorite).

I think Lion King has the strongest soundtrack overall, followed by the Jungle Book (of course). I like the movie version of Can You Feel the Love? because it undercuts the sappiness just enough with the final verse "...if he feels the love tonight/Our friend is surely doomed"

But come on, Bare Necessities. My wife was amazed that we were showing the movie to Mowgli and I knew every word, including the prickly pear speech.

I think I've argued that very thing on this board before. But it's between LK and TLM though...TLM's soundtrack isn't only filled with awesome songs, but also songs that genuinely flow within the movie and help move the plot along.

I agree that the last verse with Timon and Pumbaa singing is great, but I think CYFtLT is a fantastic song in itself. That's a great fricking song, and one of Elton John's best IMO (top ten at least, maybe higher).

See, I don't like Elton John doing it. It gets TOO sappy, but it works great in the film. And you could argue its the fifth best song in Lion King.

I do like Little Mermaid as well, and of course I'll rep Jungle Book. Trust in Me is awesome.

Also, I know there's some recency bias, but Do You Wanna Build a Snowman? is amazing.

I actually prefer poor unfortunate souls and Gaston over Hellfire.

Impossible to proclaim one as the GOAT, but I've always thought it should be Wish Upon a Star. Pretty much sums up everything about Disney.

Good call.

That's actually prolly #1 now that you mention it. And you're right, it is basically "Disney" personified.

And for a song that is almost 75 years old, it still holds true today and is still very relevant.

Clearly, the most unique song and best song lyrically is probably "Hellfire." And it isn't close. At all.

But in terms of best "Disney-like" song, I'd probably give the nod to "Upon a Star," "Be Our Guest," or "The Bare Necessities."

Best Openers are "Circle of Life," and "Belles of Notre Dame" as 1a and 1b. Both are magnificent.

yeah it is pretty much a Broadway song in a animated film.

But nowadays everything gets turned into a Broadway musical so I guess that isn't saying much

"The Bare Necessities."
