Frankly, I'm making perfect sense. It's just that I'm fascinated that you're turning out to be the adolescent little dumbass that I originally suspected you were. I suppose I had hoped there was more to you. Oh well. My bad.

You're reading comprehension also blows. I think you may have hit the trifecta.

Plenty of people compared him to Dylan

Everybody got compared to Dylan in those days

quote:

"The New Dylan" -- it's the kind of designation that can make or stall a career. At one point the claim was made by both the press and savvy publicists about so many new artists that critic Greil Marcus parodied the trend in "The Book of Rock Lists," listing 57 "New Dylans" (100 in a later edition) running the gamut from Tim Buckley and Tracy Chapman to Dylan himself and his manager Albert Grossman. Sometimes the "New Dylan" tag meant a performer sounded a bit like Dylan himself (Donovan was one early adherent, although few copycats were as blatant in their emulation as Sammy Walker). Others trafficked in the same mode of solo acoustic protest music as Dylan did in his self-described "finger-pointin'" phase (Phil Ochs struggled with Dylan comparisons for most of his career, while Buffy Sainte-Marie took protest music to a whole 'nother level). And some had the title foisted upon them simply because they wrote songs with a lot of words and played harmonica.

Some New Dylans did just fine despite the hyperbole -- you've heard of Bruce Springsteen and Patti Smith, right? Others faded into cult appreciation, like Steve Forbert and Elliott Murphy. And some just laughed it off, like Loudon Wainwright III, who jokes in "Talking New Bob Dylan" that he and John Prine "still get together every week at Bruce's house." No doubt there will be several new additions to the family by this time next year (or month).

Thanks.
Yeah it was a Cultural Phenomenom, along with, "Dylan's gonna be at Woodstock, Dylan's gonna be at Altamont, Dylan's gonna be at The Rice Festival".

I like his music... never a first choice, but I enjoy it fine. Hate his politics. Saw him yesterday for the first time and I was blown away at him as an entertainer. He puts on an awesome show and I respect that.

Huge plus for having John Fogerty join him. Somebody I've always wanted to see and hated that I wasn't going to get to see him at JF this year.

If asked I wouldn't name him in my top20 artists. He is a top 5 concert for me though. Great energy and the crowd was completely dialed in.

It's hip to hate on him today, guess he's too mainstream but he used to put on a great show. His 70's stuff was his apex, he hasn't done much that I find exciting since then.

Pretty much.

Personally, I love his stripped down, acoustic stuff. But I don't generally care for the E Street stuff. Nebraska is one of the best records of all time for me.

That's about how I feel. Most other stuff is hit or miss but I always like Streets of Philadelphia.

I have been a Springsteen fan since the 70's, and loved his show Saturday. I agree with many that his songwriting peaked back then, but Tom Morello has really spiced his latest album/tour. The solo on "Ghost of Tom Joad" was awesome.

My 17 y/o son, who is a talented musician and songwriter, wanted to see him just to say he had, and thought it was "epic". Even he admitted the Boss has more energy than any performer he'd seen, and he's actually been to a lot of concerts--mostly indie/alternative rock and hip-hop. Here's a pic I took from Jazz Fest.
