Outdoor Kitchen

Who all on here has either built an outdoor kitchen themselves or hired a contractor to build one?
The more work I do on my current house, the longer I can see myself staying in it. I think the clincher would be to build an outdoor kitchen.
What is a reasonable amount of money that is required to do this? I was thinking around $25-30k for one but I know that could vary depending on the appliances, type of structure, etc.
Any experiences? Good contractors?

you will never use it as much as you think you will use it /end thread

I built one when we built our house last yr. It looks cool, but in reality, it doesn't get used that much. Sort of like a pool

From what I understand is it looks cool, but you will never recoup the cost when selling.

All of this^
Pass. Just more Shiites to break/maintain and make you feel guilty for not using it. You don't own it, it owns you.
Less is more Padawan.

I use mine all the time. Just keep it simple. Grill, sink, fridge, storage. Maybe burners.

I've always wanted one, but when I think about it, I probably would use the grill often but not the other things (sink/fridge/countertops). I can wash dishes indoors and can grab a beer from my beer fridge in the garage. I already have a grill.
If I dropped 20K on one and used it about once a week for 20 years, that's $20 per use. Not worth it for me.

If I were building a home it would be a no brainier to put one in. If its a house I already own It would be hard to drop the cash.

Are you willing/able to do any of the work yourself? Do you already have a covered area for the kitchen or will you have to build that too?
This one was posted on the Outdoor board not too long ago. I'm sure he could answer any questions that you may have.

I just want a grill, single burner, and fridge all in a custom built unit under my back porch, maybe a pull out trash drawer and a small spice cabinet, hooded exhaust above.
I've shown 4-5 houses this year, all but one with an extensive outdoor kitchen has LSU/Saints gear throughout the house

We are about to embark on this journey.
Smith and Baker is a company that I would recommend, as well as Oasis Spaces.

I built an 18x20 lofted building for my outdoor kitchen/shop before I built my home. It is hardy planked and has nice doors. I built it to mimic the house to be. The building cost $6,500. I put used cabinets, sink, microwave, stove, flat screen, and a new fridge in it. Besides the stove and fridge everything was free. All my junk goes upstairs. I use it daily. I also built it myself. It ain't fancy, but it beats hanging out with the wife inside the house.

the hidden benefit that trumps the excessive cost...

those cabinets are sweet...
I want a burner top, a small space for a drop in smoker/grill (big green egg), sink, and a mini fridge. I don't need a hood exhaust and would like an open area to sit/eat while watching a hanging tv.

We're building a house and the wife really wants one bad. I don't understand this because she doesn't cook. So we're having our builder just add the fittings and we'll build it later.
ACME brick has a sign out front saying "let us help you design your outdoor kitchen". So apparently they're putting it out there they can help with that?
