It is lip service. Show me in writing where we get an established amount of night home games. And you can guarantee that any big draw games that CBS gets will not be at night. Book it.

This. Although cbs will do whatever they want.

This season, only 2 home games have CBS afternoon time slot potential anyway: Ole Miss and Bama.
The only thing I really think this impacts are our appearances on the SEC Network / ESPN. Beginning this season, I believe ESPN can now broadcast SEC games in the same time slot as CBS, which wasn't the case before.
I can see the SEC Network (shitty games) having broadcast times at 11:00, 3:00, and 7:00, so maybe we'll get deference for the 7 PM slot. It would suck to kickoff at 3:00 PM in September against Sam Houston St.

I welcome more night games in Tiger Stadium, but I'm not convinced this is some great job by Alleva that got this done. In 2012, we had a very similar schedule to what we'll have in 2014; and 7 of 8 games were at night that year. We know CBS won't want the 3 cupcake games, MSU, or UK, and there's a good chance that Bama will be the CBS prime time game again. So, that leaves Ole Miss on October 25th as the lone candidate for a CBS game at home this year. And that happens to be the same day Bama and UT play, so CBS has a game that will likely have more appeal to them anyway.
If all of our 2015 games are at night too, then I'll say Alleva did a great job.

Let me get this straight, for two years fans have bitched about playing too many day games and said Alleva needed to stand up to the SEC and CBS.
Ostensibly he has now done that, and people are bitching that it was either not by his own doing, merely lip service from the networks, or are pissed that he forfeited nationally televised prime time broadcasts?
This. This place is pathetic sometimes.

I'd rather an ESPN night game than CBS day game any time. Rotting in the sun for 6 hours sucks. ESPN means shorter games and night tradition, although I will believe it when I see it.

Yep. He basically got lip service that our Jefferson pilot games will be at night on a channel no one gets. Throw joe a parade. This makes up for caving to tamu and being powerless at the sec negotiation table.

A large portion of the LSU fan base are fricking idiots

It's bullshite, and it will not change.
This seems to happen a lot when we play Ole Miss at home. If we play Ole Miss at home and the other games are shite games, do you think CBS will really say "Well, we promised LSU, so we're going to take a ratings bath and pick Mississippi State-Kentucky instead."

Don't give a shite. Night games are better. Everyone who follows college football knows who LSU is. If it's a big game, it will be nationally televised.

Well--answer the question: do you really think CBS will pick a crap game over even a barely interesting LSU home game? Because they have never done this before, and you people defend Alleva because he makes decisions that make money. Do you believe that CBS will take a financial bath because they pinky-swore that they wouldn't do it to us again?

I'll ask again. Please show me in writing where LSU is guaranteed a certain amount of night games per year?

Directv will have the sec network before the first game.

The TV Networks can do whatever they want. All Alleva can do is tell them what LSU would prefer. That's what the man did. That's what so many on here have been up in arms about. Every time we have a day game, people are bitching about how Joe Alleva does nothing

Literally nothing was accomplished. I don't know what this thread is about.
