It's the first time we've heard of the networks response to our desire for night games. If you are looking for a concrete contract, well obviously that's not gonna get done but this does provide some incite and knowledge that at least the discussions have occurred.

Well, if so, I'll promote him from Neville Chamberlin to Stanley Baldwin ..... If he starts to do something about game day access and parking, he'll go up to David Lloyd-George....

Is this really good for LSU? Will it cost us some big games on CBS? I hope we don't end up with 11:am/12pm games as a result. Hope I'm wrong.

I think what he's trying to do is make sure the SEC network doesn't start fricking with our sure night games (cupcake games & others not of afternoon caliber) and if CBS will consider our night game tradition, then that's a bonus. Sounds like he's doing his job.

Let me get this straight, for two years fans have bitched about playing too many day games and said Alleva needed to stand up to the SEC and CBS.

Ostensibly he has now done that, and people are bitching that it was either not by his own doing, merely lip service from the networks, or are pissed that he forfeited nationally televised prime time broadcasts?

Yep. People here complain about everything.

That's great. And I'm telling you that I think absolutely nothing will come of it. Do you think Bama will be a night game this year? It won't. Of course I'll look like an arse this year because we have no other exciting matchups at home this year. Maybe Ole Miss but we may get the night game because of Bama/Tenn or Auburn/SC, not because of any conversations with the networks. If it benefits the network, the network will put LSU on during the day, regardless of how "aware" they are of our desire to play at night.

Just deliver, Joe, don't promise.

It definitely feels like the good ole boys told our Yankee what he wanted to hear just to shut him up.

I think you're all looking into this too much

He's basically saying the games that aren't picked up by CBS or ESPN primetime that will be on the primetime SECNETWORK

CBS won't pass LSU up if the opportunity is there

Nobody said we are definitely guaranteed of x number of night games now. The title of the thread itself says "may". One of Alleva's jobs is to push LSU's interests to the SEC and TV Networks. People bitched, he listened, and did all he could do.

Absolutely

Alabama/Auburn is locked in on Saturday at 2:30

Auburn/LSU is the only real challenger to ALabama/LSU for the 7PM CBS game

LSU/A&M is locked in on Friday

CBS will pick up Alabama @ LSU no doubt (of course, if LSU has 3 losses going into that, it could get interesting).

So, Joe actually meant nothing has changed but took the opportunity to claim he improved the situation. Ahh, much clearer now.

Real power would not have to make this kind of announcement; it would simply happen and folks would notice it after the fact.

Chicken feces pandering move to feel he had to announce this.

He can't do anything. Slive can't do anything. It's contractually agreed upon that CBS gets their pick, and ESPN gets their pick.

If you want more night games, show up to the stadium when we are averaging 6 wins a season. You'll get your night games.

No, and nothing will

You think Aleva is a joke now? If he legit puts his foot down in contract negotiations and says we want more night games and for CBS and ESPN not to pick up LSU games, he and LSU will be a laughing stock

Well the sec is about maintaining tradition. So for them to not be completely full of shite, they need to maintain traditions from all the members, not a select few.

So if LSU is undefeated or on a national championship run CBS or ESPN wouldn't pick up an LSU night game if that's when we decided to play?

LSU doesn't decide when it wants to play

They HAD that option 1 time a year with the PPV game, but that's gone now.

LSU has no say so when they play. Aleva has no say so. Slive has no say so. The big wig who picks CBS games does. Same with ESPN, and the SEC network
