I know that. I meant in contract negotiations, whenever they come around again. You said if he puts his foot down CBS or ESPN just won't pick up LSU games.

No

I said if he puts his foot down and tells/asks for CBS/ESPN to not pick up LSU for day games

CBS and ESPN execs would laugh him out the building. They know what makes money, and LSU does. That's why LSU has been on primetime the most out of any program since 2005

He didn't say that at all. He said he will get laughed at because its not up to him.

Nah, I just don't understand the Alleva supporters who says he does everything he can but nothing ever changes and then say I can't bitch about it.

So why the letter to the fans if he knows absolutely nothing will change?

I'm not an Aleva supporter

But it's ignorant to bash him for not doing something about LSU night games when he has no power to change it.

Do you understand how tv contracts work at all? The SEC negotiates with ESPN and CBS. Not LSU. We can make requests but they don't have to be met. So literally the only thing Alleva has the power to do is ask them for more night games if its possible and that's what he did.

I don't understand why you are upset with Alleva here.

Who ever said nothing will change? Why do you keep saying that? He was obviously letting the fans know that he hasn't ignored their endless complaints about day games and is doing all he can on the matter. All he can do is complain to the networks and request more night games and thats what he did.

Yep. He basically got lip service that our Jefferson pilot games will be at night on a channel no one gets. Throw joe a parade. This makes up for caving to tamu and being powerless at the sec negotiation table.

All in all, outside of Alabama everyone is powerless in regards to what Slive wants. Jeff Long is widely considered one of the top 5 most influential athletic directors in the NCAA, and he fell flat on his face trying to keep the LSU-Arkansas game on Thanksgiving week. Saban and Bill Battle wanted 9 conference games and fell flat on their face.

A lot of you act like LSU has the power and influence Texas has. Guess what, we simply don't. We have just as big of a voice as Tennessee, Auburn, Florida, Arkansas, A&M, etc, but when the majority of AD's disagree with Alleva's permanent opponent argument, please remember no single AD is a Rothschild in this conference.

Get a grip, we will have more night games which should help with attendance. I would much rather visiting recruits see a rowdy, wasted 101,000 than a half full stadium on tv while recruits are on their couch devouring pork rinds. Also, let's not forget that CBS has the ultimate say. Bama and Ole Miss will both be on CBS as long as we win.

You guys have no clue when it comes to TV contracts and when LSU will play. There is no way we can dictate what time we play. Sure we want night games and that is tradition but whether that happens is up to the networks. I'm glad Alleva spoke up about our desire for night games but he has no say and I mean no say in what time we play any game. He can state our desire to play night games like he did but that is it. If CBS wants to put us on a 2:30 to play Alabama, we can't say screw you and TV we play at 7pm tv or not. We are a part of the SEC and play by the TV contact for the conference. If every game was picked up for a 11-2:30 kick times i'd be pissed off but deal with it, and at least the games are on a national TV broadcast. Times are good for LSU because go back in the 1996 we had 5 games on TV. Conference games against Vandy, Ole Miss, and Kentucky were not on TV.

I understand how they work, which is why I started bitching in the first place. I knew absolutely nothing would change and some people think there will be more night games because he said pretty please to Slive. it will mot nor will it ever change. End of story.

You say you "knew" as if you've been proven correct

You don't know shite about the timing of future games. None of us do. People are happy that Alleva is at least trying to get more night games. Though he may fail, all he can do is ask. Doesn't hurt to ask. He sent the message out to let fans know he's been listening.

It's really not that hard of a concept to understand. Nobody came on here saying that we are now guaranteed more night games.

You'd probably hard pressed to find any team outside of Notre Dame that had most of their games broadcast on national tv in 96.

Let me get this straight, for two years fans have bitched about playing too many day games and said Alleva needed to stand up to the SEC and CBS.

Ostensibly he has now done that, and people are bitching that it was either not by his own doing, merely lip service from the networks, or are pissed that he forfeited nationally televised prime time broadcasts?

Welcome to the rant

Some of y'all are just dumb. He lobbied for two things:

1. When the game is on any of the ESPN networks (espn, espn2, Espnu, sec network) it will be at night.

2. When CBS selects an LSU home game they will look to first use their prime time slot(s) for the game.
