Figured a thread discussing the hits and misses of the food vendors would be a good idea...there is too much good stuff to waste space on bad food

I eat at JF out of necessity so I normally keep it simple with the Cuban sandwich. I have gone to Cansecos 3 times and the last week so I might get something different tomorrow.

Cochon de lait poboy of course
Dibbi
That korean beef poboy last year was pretty good too.
Pheasant, Quail & Andouille Gumbo is good. I actually tried it for the first time last year because the weather was cooler. Had never tried it before because it was just tough for me to think about sitting there sweating my arse off eating a piping hot bowl of gumbo.
Trout baquet
There is a new item this year I want to try:
Acarajé (Black-eyed Pea Fritter with
Shrimp & Spicy Cashew Sauce),
Dibbi

Some of my favorites: stuffed mushrooms, crabmeat po'boy (basically the filling from a stuffed crab scooped out on a po'boy)

Put some cracklins on top of the cochon de lait.
Cuban, quail and pheasant gumbo (although too hot for that in reality), Dibbi, and the poulet fricassee. The last one is sort of unexplainable. Its just grilled chicken on a stick, but for some reason I love it. Its always juicy and well seasoned.
The food areas closest to Acura and Congo Square are light years better than the one closer to the Grand Stand. No idea why that is.

Shrimp flauta, crawfish monica, steak dibbi and orange tea.

If you pass up the crawish monica you should be shot.

Crawfish Monica in 85 degrees heat works once. After that, not so much.
Go Jamaican (palmers) jerk chicken, then crawfish remoulade salad, softshell crab poboy, chicken livers, peas and collard greens.

Ventured out to some different foods than my norm this past weekend.
Grilled Chicken Livers with pepper jelly. Served with rice and collard greens. Was pretty damn good and a great value for 8 bucks. Will probably order again.
Also tried the Jamaican chicken and curry chicken pattie along with the veggies and rice they served with it. Huge plate of food for 10 bucks and really, really good.

As much as I love to drink I just can't do it at Jazz Fest. It's too expensive and too much of a burden to fight the crowds to take a piss. Every now and then I'll bring a flask and pour some bourbon over ice towards the end of the day but that's about it.

couchon poboy and the ninja foods bbq beef po boys are amazing.
chicken livers and pepper jelly is a favortie every year.
crawfish bread and crawfish monica are overrated in my book.
also one of my favorites is the $4 pork chop sandwich.
