Do you believe in free will?

I hahppen to believe that all of our actions are predetermined, in a sense, by our genetics and our environment. I believe if we act in a certain way with a certain set of conditions we would act that way every time if we were somehow able to rewind time and all conditions were the same and we had no knowledge of the event or our actions to it the prvious time in this hypothetical scenario. Obviously there is no way to prove my theory but it is an interesting point for discussion. Do you agree or disagree?

If you don't have free will, and believe all is pre determined you wash away any personal responsibility.

Disagree and there are a ton of ways to prove your argument is wrong, here is one: You can always move, using your free will, and that would change your environment so your argument is invalid.

I believe in free will. Darwinism is an enemy to free will as well as Calvinism is an enemy to free will.
I just chose to type that, wasn't genetics, wasn't predestination.

And that would be one of the two factors I believe determine all of our actions. I don't believe what you wrote disagrees with what I wrote in any way.

I cannot disagree with that.

Most definitely. My reactions to similar situations are often illogical and inconsistent. If you rewound time, I don't see me doing the same exact thing every single instant.

We must believe in free will. We have no choice.

Wrong. All of the reactions that go on in our brains are random. You could make a clone of yourself and put yourselves in the same situation and they may not choose the same thing

How do you know? How do you know the being pulilng your strings in this Matrix-esque video game of life didn't compel you to type that?

Yes. You have ability and power to choose to do right or wrong. That is free will.

Doesn't this disprove free will?
