Anyone else listening to this? Mark Emmert is going down in flames.

Emmert just said athletes shouldn't be able to capitalize on their own likenesses because of "competitive fairness." Yes. He really did.

Last time I can recall a suit coming across as bad as NCAA prez Mark Emmert is in these interviews Roddy Piper was asking the questions.

That is a reason for many schools to want the rule. I'm not sure it would stand up to examination in court were that to be challenged.

So what? He's exactly right...are we talking about video games?
Jersey numbers?

OK,if your talking about jersey's with the players name and number he's spot on.What's to stop school A (lets say Oregon)
from buying, manufacturing or selling EVERY players likeness they have on their roster to lets say,oh I don't know,Phil Knight. I think maybe every top recruit in America would love to step in a situation like that. Substitute,Bama,LSU,UT etc,etc

Autographs? Oh yea,EVERY big time alum of the school will line up to "buy up" autographs from just about anybody who's on the roster.

Can you give some cliffs? DP was cracking on Emmert's answer related to player transfers in the next segment, but I missed the interview.

Yeah, the competitive fairness thing makes perfect sense. Can you imagine how many million BugaNation shirts would've been sold this last year? Allowing players to make money off of their likeness would just be adding in another, and much harder to control, money laundering opportunity.

DP is usually really good about seeing through the PC speak and the balancing act between trying to get some sort of a real answer and not coming off as an overzealous host

Really? So you just want every college and their alumni base to have the ability to put unlimited funds in their players pockets? And you don't see anything wrong with that? You really want to open up that can of worms? And you really think college presidents would agree to that?

seriously? Fournette would've had boosters from Bama, LSU and every other big time college funneling him a ton of money buying those shirts if it were legal. Allowing NCAA athletes to sell items for profit would increase the amount of money that is spent buying players exponentially.
