Any of you think you'd do well on Hell's Kitchen?

I know it's a TV show, but I figured this would fit better here.
We have some pretty solid cooks here. How many of you think you could hang with Gordon Ramsay?
ETA: I couldn't. I can't even cook extremely well at home under no pressure.

Cooking at home is entirely different than cooking in a restaurant setting. I doubt many here could do it at all.

It's hardly a cooking competition. It's more of a war of attrition. The more efficient chef will beat out the more talented chef 95% of the time.

I'd put that arse to sleep with the uppity chicken

I've learned this recently. Started helping out in the kitchen and it's totally different

I would need to brush up on some skills, but for the sake of argument I was up to par. I think I would do pretty well. I learned to cook in a very hostile, family environment. The two things that kill these cooks are pressure and lack of communication. Tell someone when your risotto is fricking five minutes out so they can start the side!

I can cook, but I couldn't cook at the intensity and level that they cook in an industrial kitchen. Cooking for me is borderline therapeutic. Lets me get away from things a bit, relax, etc.
No way hell could I relax cooking in a kitchen like that. I have the utmost respect for people who can.

One of my biggest dreams. When he gets all pissed off, thowing stuff and yelling, It would make me more focused and want to get through that rush/problem, it excites me in a good way.
I freakin LOVE that guy.

All the yelling is a put on for the most part for American audiences. Watch his shows on BBC and you don't anywhere near the amount of yelling.

Although the yelling is not as prevalent as American TV, he does manage to turn the screws just a bit more on BBC.

The things that the show requires out of its contestants and the things that I enjoy in the kitchen are 180 from each other.
I doubt that I would have the ability to allow any of my kitchen skills come through in that type of setting. Id be so busy plotting a way to stab him in his fricking face that I would over cook the scallops 4 times in a row.

I'd like to go on the show and see if I could choke the Limey life out of Gordon Ramsey. I think I'd do well at it.

Same here. I'm too old and beat up to choke him to death, but I could knock his arse slap out with a skillet, and then stand on his throat. That'd be a good show.

I could do it. Would love to do it.
I find cooking very relaxing, but i also love the challenge of having it done. Today was a perfect example. i loved the challenge of having everything ready at once for easter dinner.
Pulling the leg if lamb letting it rest at that perfect 130 degrees. Meanwhile sautéing the french green beans in shallots and olive oil with hem getting to wilted. Then at the same time sautéing my FIL halibut with fresh line juice and capers because he doesn't eat meat. And making sure the potatoes au gratin, creamed spinach are warm and ready to go as well. And making sure it's all fresh and hot at the same time for 12 people. I want it perfect and everyone smiling. Love the challenge.
I went to culinary school for six months. Cooked at Gino's and Ruffinos during that time.
I thought I wanted to be a chef. But what I learned is there is a differnce between enjoying something and having a passion for it. You need to have that passion to be a chef.
