I would rather have a mall without the people who ride the buses frequently

I highly doubt it b/c Tanger is just a few miles down I-10. That's not to mention that the internet is hurting malls across America. I don't think there will be a lot of new mall construction anymore (thankfully).

I'm not trying to be combative, but how, exactly do you propose they do this? That area comprises nearly half the landmass of BTR, and is filled with people on generational welfare and who generally could not care less about their surroundings. Moreover, a major catalyst in the downfall of NBR was the imposition of the plants. How do you reverse decades of undesirability and apathy?
It ain't Scruffy's job to figure that out. It is the job of the Baton Rouge government, and they obviously have too much to deal with and are unable to focus on fixing the problems plaguing the city.

Hell, they can't even get around to fixing the damn traffic problems that have been plaguing that city forever.

Scruffy is confused as to why people want to continue with such mediocrity.

bullshite. Who paid for al those roads and infrastructure that made the Mall and Perkins Rowe even possible in the first place?

Its not confusing. I understand build it away from Casino however there is really nowhere to build a smaller mall than over in that area.

As far as the bus routes. I would rather have a mall not on the bus routes is all.

Every city of any size has traffic problems. It's silly to assume BR or any city can build enough roads to move rush hour traffic at the same pace as 3 a.m. traffic.

It would be like building a church the size needed to hold just Easter Sunday churchgoers.

Scruffy has been to bigger cities that seem to have a much better setup that doesn't spill onto to all side streets to the point where you can't leave your home between 4 and 6 pm.

Baton Rouge could learn a thing or two from those places.

So you're expecting them to be miracle workers? They're supposed to somehow find a way to change an entire culture?

Most of the traffic problems that BR has are due to the city basically being shills for developers for 40 years. The Green Light plan has helped alleviate some of the congestion, but NIMBYism and suburban sprawl will continue to be at the root of it.

Exaggerate much?
I hate traffic as much as anyone, but you're being a Drama Queen if you think BR traffic is measurably worse than any other U.S. city its size.

Even during the times you mentioned, I can drive from one side of the city to the other in 40 minutes. It used to take me 1 hour just to get from the CBD in New Orleans to the Dolly Parton bridge during rush hour.

It'll be built in Livingston or Ascension. I'm not in full support of SG, but the exodus to surrounding parishes needs to slow down. SG was an (albeit, messed up way) to stoke parish growth. If the city is just galvanized to stop SG from forming, but not do anything to combat the issues that made the people wanna form a new city in the first place, we're all screwed. Something must be done. If not St George, which is probably overall a bad idea, then what?

I just had a conversation about this.

It's true. You wanna go across town at 4 on a Friday in baton frickin rouge, it'll take at least an hour.

There's no disputing that. At least an hour to an hour and a half.
