MODOK is what he reminded me of in that scene. It's tough to do that character in what seems to be a bit more grounded universe, but if they keep him in monitors like that, I think they could pull it off.

One thing that occured to me regarding the marvel cinematic properties as a whole is this:
Do you think that in some ways Marvel benefited from having other studios do some of their early major movies? Here's my thought process:
- Marvel got to see what other studios did right (and there was some good stuff in the Spidey and X-Men movies). They also got to see what other studios did wrong (some Spidey and X-Men stuff and of course of lot in FF and maybe everything in Daredevil).
- There are so many marvel propergties that I think it might have been difficult for Marvel to cover all of them and do them all justice from the get go. Might have just been too much.
Of course having said all that, I would like to see all the properties back under the Marvel banner. But it doesn't seem like that it too likely with the more popular properties that other studios have the rights to.
What do ya'll think?

I've seen everything Marvel but the TV show agents of shield and Winter Soldier which I plan on seeing soon. If I don't watch the TV show am I going to be confused on some things in upcoming movies? I'm not a comic reader either except for a little while in the early 90's.

Wrong. The beauty of the Marvel Universe has been it's ability to make different kinds of movies all tie together seamlessly into a singular world.
A Spy Thriller, an Old-Style War movie, A pure Science Fiction film, an action movie, etc.
We should enjoy the heck out of that. I would rather the movies all be completely different, telling a variety of stories uniquely, then driving all of the same parts together into the same whole.

I asked about this in a previous thread, but it was in the middle of another discussion so it never got any traction.
I really do think Marvel has benefitted from a more limited catalog. They were able to focus in on more specific stories because of so much being eliminated for them.
Seeing the plusses and minuses of the other studios helped as well, I would think. Also, starting the universe later, with better technology, has also helped.

Certainly. Marvel got to see studios play it close in films like Superman, Batman and Spider-Man, really grabbing at the core of the comic and how successful that could be. And they also saw the traps that lead one into.
They were also able to see studios take unique departures from comics, X-Men, that allowed them to create a new cohesive world that was very very different from the source material.
Marvel learned from both.

Completely agree. And outside of a few heroes (Spidey, Logan, Cyclops, etc.), the Avengers provide some of the most distinctive heroes, so it was a really good place to start.

There are plenty of heroes still under the Avengers banner that can be used. I would rather Marvel stay focused on Avengers and other smaller properties.
I mean Luke Cage and Iron Fist can be pure awesome if done right.
The only thing that hurts is seeing studios mess thing up. Amazing Spider-Man was good enough, the next X-Men and FF movies though...ugh.

Thanos kills everyone. So yes.
But if you're specifically referring to the end fight with Thanos, yeah he does. He kills all the Avengers save Cap, who stands face to face with him.

I watched First Class again last night, and it really just made me depressed about what's happening to days of future past.

It took Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance being a collosal bomb and money drain on Sony for them to relinquish the properties.
It might take a massive fail of epic proportions on DOFP for the X-Men rights to revert to Marvel. Same with Spider-Man.
Our only hope is shared distribution (like Paramount/Universal and Marvel, etc.)
As far as the future of the MCU:
The direction they go with the Netflix series has the potential to shape not only Phase 3, but the "behind the scenes" for Phase 2 (to include Agents of SHIELD).
As far as that dream cast:
Michael C. Hall - Matt Murdock (rumored)
Terry Crews - Carl Lucas
Ray Park - Danny Rand
Meghan Ory - Jessica Jones

I know we're getting away from the MCU and going toward the X-Verse, but my hope for AoA has always been an animated series. I think that would do it the best justice. And we almost got it.
For live action, I can't wait for the x-force movie, but I really hope Singer is not involved at all.

Eric Christian Olsen is the guy I would want playing Danny Rand. And then they could team him up with Captain America for something and have a Not Another Teen Movie reunion.
