Food for the common man - the Sloppy Joe (Photos)

Lincoln once said, "God must love the common man because he made so many of them".
In keeping with that thought I would like to share a meal that hundreds, if not dozens of us common men will enjoy tonight as we watch the Academy of Country Music Awards on our 65 inch flat screen TVs.
To serve 2, You'll need:
- About 1/2 pound coarsely triturated muscle and connective tissue. I used ground beef.
- salt, pepper, dried garlic from a jar
- Sauce. I used Hunt's Manwich™ sauce in my preparation. It is the penultimate; the absolute pinochle of canned sauce specifically designed by full time employed food technicians to enhance the flavor of this dish. As near as I can tell, the Hunt's product is made from mostly natural ingredients, with a few petrochemical byproducts, used to enhance the flavor and give the product an almost unlimited shelf life. In my research for this post I determined that most of the ingredients in Hunt's Manwich™ sauce are not included on the California Hazardous Materials listing.
- a nice bun. Mine came from Piggly Wiggly. It is perfectly acceptable to substitute Light bread for the bun. In a bind, a few packs of the saltine crackers Granny Jean stole from the salad bar at Western Sizzler can also be used to turn this into a nice dip.
Lets get to cooking.
First, fire up the range and sauté the ground beef with a little salt, pepper and garlic.
Be sure to cook this stuff until its done.
Then open your can of sauce and dump it into the pan, right there on top of the meat.
Looks yummy already. Go on ahead and stir it together.
You want to cook it a while, especially if the Manwich™ came from the dented can isle.
This is a special night because George Strait is on the CMA show, so we served this dish (fancy like) open faced, with a side order of Tater Chips.
and Amber fluids.
I am happily living the "Fully Loved" good life.
Insert dancing nanner here:

This would have been very fancy eating for us as kids. We were peas and beans folks at my house. Any ground beef and sauce we had would have had spaghetti noodles under it.
I can assure you, I am not burned out on anything, or ungrateful for the bounty of a table.

I just can't. It was always a cringe meal for me.
If I have burger buns and ground beef, I have better options.
A good loose meat/drop sandwich is good eats in my home. Just season the ground meat, fry it up, drain, and serve with your condiments and a slice of cheese.

I saw a sign at a local, well known, and fairly popular restaurant here in BR advertising Sloppy Joes on Sat. That, and this post, have inspired me to relieve fond memories from my childhood and put sloppy joes on this week's menu. Unfortunately, Airwolf is nowhere to be found on the channel listings, so I'll have to watch Perfect Strangers reruns. Might throw in a Coors Original now that I'm a grown up.

The small amount of ground beef used in this was leftovers from Grilled Chee Burgers I cooked last night. The chips we had, were remnants from last night too.
To those who might be offended, I am sorry. This is good eating to me.
God blesses me every day, which includes days of Grilled Chee Burgers and days of Sloppy Joes.
Just as soon eat these as Shrimp and Grits or strip steak.
