Overall I thought this movie was fantastic and is by far the best stand alone Marvel movie.
i really don't like captain america, but this was one of the best comic movies, period
the first 2 batman movies and x-men first class are probably the only ones i'd be ahead of it
i also liked the 2nd thor movie...that may actually be right behind this one
but i wasn't a big fan of the first run of x-men and spider-man, fwiw

I was so disappointed in the 2nd Thor. Too predictable and didn't really move the story along. It felt like I'd seen it before.

well most of these marvel movies are so forgettable, i forget if i have seen it before

Saw it today. It was outstanding. Probably the best superhero movie I have seen - right along with Batman Begins and TDK.
Better than The Avengers, which was REALLY good.
Captain America: Winter Soldier might be my favorite.

Saw it yesterday. It was outstanding and I'm hoping we get a Winter Soldier spinoff film from Cap 3. He was so well done.
So the "script leak" that I read about Red Skull being Pierce was obviously fake(a take on Skulls return in the comic Winter Soldier story). I was pretty excited about seeing that going in, but after watching, I'm fine it not playing out like that.
I haven't had time to search yet, but has anyone figured out all the easter eggs in the target list at the end yet? I know Stark was in there but who else?

Yes. Take the superhero elements out and it's still a great movie. But they nailed those elements regardless: captain America, winter soldier, nick fury, black widow, falcon, other minor characters all were practically perfectly casted and executed.

They got the use of his shield, how it was an extension of his body and his fighting style, correct.

I'm not sure of the Death of Captain America storyline would play well with the movie audience.
The comic book audience is used to more extreme types of storytelling with these characters. Heroes die and come back all the time in the comics. Villains, too.
The thing about Chris Evans' Captain America is that he is really, really likeable in the role. Audiences love the movie Captain America. And if you do something so traumatic as kill him on screen via assassination, I'm not so sure they're as ready to accept Bucky as the new Captain America as comic book fans are.
If Chris Evans is tired of playing the character and wants to move on, just have him ride off into the sunset with Sharon and they go live their life somewhere, free from all the duty and obligation... and Bucky picks up the shield.
Movie audiences want a happy ending. And when they don't get it, they're angry. Marvel should tread carefully on this one.

The final scene could be Steve and Sharon enjoying brunch in France. Nick Fury is sitting a few tables away. Nick scans the dining room and locks eyes with Steve. Steve raises his tea cup, pinky extended and gives a nod. Nick nods back. Cut away to Bucky discovering Cap's suit that Steve left behind. Cue dramatic music, Capt America logo flies aggressively towards the screen as the music quickly crescendos. Fade to Black.

I for one have never read a single page in a comic book.
But I wiki'd some shite after I got back from the movie last night, I want a civil war movie series.
How feasable is that ?

Nah. They should make it where Sharon give CA AIDS in which his fast metabolism and regeneration heal him and at the same time creates an antidote to save all the gays. Left wing Hollywood would eat that shite up....
Pun intended

Soo................how the hell did Magneto manage to lose his children?
I mean, what happened? "Oh, I was at the supervillain convention and turned my back for 5 minutes and hydra took my babies."

let me just say that chris evans needs to tone down the juice a bit. i lol'd (literally) every time they showed him in just a t-shirt or in his uniform. he's getting to HHH-level big
Posted on 4/7/14 at 10:18 am to SlowFlowPro
Yeah, he looked even bigger than he was in CA.
Posted on 4/7/14 at 10:20 am to wadewilson
They listed him in the movie at 240lbs.
He was definitely exagerrated comic book looking.

Marvel has been so damn creative that it's feasible with some significant edits (it included the whole of Marvel U...F4, Spidey, X-Men...EVERYONE).
I can SEE them doing it, mostly because of Tony Stark's role (he does less Iron Man-ing and more policy making) and Cap dies, so it could make sense in the context of where they want things to go.
BUT it's quite clear they are going for Thanos and the Infinity Gems. You can't build this whole entire story up about the gems and not follow through. Can we get Civil War in 20 years time? Sure. Can Civil War actually be born from a Thanos storyline? Yup. Will it happen? That's debatable. Thanos must be the focus in A3 or even 4 though.
