I also have ASI with a 1k deductible for hurricanes. I've never had to make a claim though so I can't speak for their service.

My homeowner's is $2,900/year with more property coverage than you plus the $2 million liability coverage. But I do have the 5% hurricane deductible, so there's that.....

SF is even doing this in North LA. I was going to switch because a friend is an agent, but I said screw them with that 5% bs. I am with safeco. $1000 deductible all around. cheaper than what sf quoted me with the 5% hurricane deductible.

How much did they pay out after Gustave?

The back story is I was at a business function and a Liberty Mutual agent was using the State Farm increase to 5% to try and drum up business. A State Farm person at the same meeting said that people with multiple lines would get to renew with a 2% deductible. In the interests of full disclosure I am a happy USAA member, so I wasn't going to get quotes from ether of them.

Not true....we have 3 vehicles insured by State Farm and our hurricane deductible also went up to 5%. So, instead of a $5000 deductible, we now have a $15,000 one.

What's Allstate's hurricane ded?
Posted on 3/27/14 at 6:20 pm to TigerRob20
Not shocking. SF has been pushing to get out of the state. What's new.

Mine renews later this year. I think SF has asked to raise rates every year since I bought my house

State Farm is looking to move away from LA and MS.
This is one of the final steps in the process.
Leave those two states
Lower rates else where
Gain a bigger piece of the pie by being more competitive

i don't think sf is going anywhere. lots of old timer agents aren't going to give up their business, and sf is still adding new agents. la is one of their most saturated markets. they may choose to only write certain types of policies, but i don't see them fleeing the state anytime soon.

Go visit an Independent Insurance Agent and ask them to review your present policy and suggest alternatives.
Allstate and State Farm are serial economic rapists.

Theyll just write homes without wind and hail if they stay.

I heard the were trying to unload about .5 billion in property coverage and may be out of La. by the end of 2015.

Confirmed. Received my policy renewal from State Farm yesterday. Hurricane deductible is going up to 5%. I have multiple personal and business coverage but it's still increasing to 5% on all named storms. Totally BS. They are replacing my roof right now from the Hail storm last month but when that's done I'll be shopping around.

You live in Seven Oaks? Was riding through there yesterday, almost every house had a roofing company sign in their yard

Close by, along Hwy 73. Most every house in the I-10, hwy 73, 621 triangle has hail damage.

My insurance will renew in June we have two cars and house through Allstate. Our named storm deductible is 2%. Unless that changes in june

Let me be correct. They are not going to completely leave, rather stop writing homes. Focus on auto, life, banking, and small business Liabilty.
