Ford needs to be able to cover if he wants to play SAM in our 3-4 or 3-3 alignments, something he doesn't have much experience doing.
what about a guy like Van Noy?
it would be badass if he was still there in the 2nd round but i think that's wishful thinking. and of course, a lost cause if we picked Ford.
every year it seems like we lose a LB whether it be ILB or OLB to injuries for a significant time. Last year it was Butler, year before that it was Hawthorne and Vilma.
that's why I wouldn't be crazy about picking a guy who has a few red flags when it comes to injuries.

Was about to say, we already have one "OLB" who's basically a DE and Ford is clearly a 43 DE. I feel like you're just limiting yourself further with that kind of pick for a first rounder.

I'd love it ... Dee Ford is gonna be a beast

As was Deuce, Reggie, Meachem, Robinson, etc.

i would love to get Van Noy in the second. It is baffling how he has dropped for no reason

Dee Ford's health concern me. I like everything else about him though. A less prestigous Von Miller type.
All the same, I do want a WR pretty high in the draft.
I mean, just because the draft is deep with WR doesn't mean we should purposefully avoid taking higher prospects like we're being smarter than anyone. ODBJ, Cooks, Moncrief, etc., those first and second day guys have the potential to become elite.
Why pass on that unless someone with a higher grade on your board slips to you?

Dream Canidates
Gilbert
Dennard
Evans
Donald/any 288 pound man that runs a 4.6 has a place on my team
Realistic
Matthews
Mosley
Roby
While I can justify Ford in my head and be okay with it...the ones listed above give me the biggest stiffy.

People that want a WR in round 1 just don't understand value, and the depth of WR in this draft. Ford would be an excellent pick IMO. COrnerback I could understand too.
I agree going BPA, but it's not really fair to say that about those wanting a WR in the first. We don't need a number 2 receiver. We need a number 1 receiver. You'd be hard pressed to get one of those in the late second no matter how deep the draft is. We don't have anyone at WR right now. Our WRs are incredibly weak right now, and we don't have an elite running attack. We don't have a running QB, so how do you expect we score points? We need a number 1 WR. No way to get one except draft one. If they see a guy at our pick who they think is a number 1 WR, I don't see how we can pass that up.

Sorry but have to disagree. You can find #1 WR talent in the 2nd round this year. shite, we got Kenny Stills in the 5th last year. WR is almost turning into RB, where as the system can dictate the WR's success.
Is Brandin Cooks a #1 WR? no, because of his size.
Same can probably be said for Odell Beckham Jr.
So which #1WR type are we going to target at 27? jordan Matthews? Cause we can get Moncreif likely in the 2nd. Allen Robinson? Montavis Bryant? Davante Adams? They have more WR1 measureables than Cooks or Beckham, who are being ranked ahead of them.
Even with that being said, we re-up Jimmy Graham, and we can get away with having a quasi WR1/WR2 type guy as our #1 WR. Stills is a very good start for the future, cause he can play slot or on the outside.

These are both good points but aren't addressed in your original post calling people out.
I said that if there's no WR #1 we shouldn't draft one.
I agree that there may not be a guy that fits that role at 27. I also agree about Graham. But what you saw last year when teams started treating Graham like a WR is that he wasn't one. He needs a legit WR #1 opposite him to pull the better CBs off him.
I agree though that there probably won't be one we need to take with the first.
I still wouldn't be upset filling Sproles and Moore's role with a guy like OBJ or Cooks, because we also need a return man and a slot WR.
But you're right about value there. That's why they aren't higher in the first.
I don't know what we do with this pick. I don't see any guys at CB either who I think can be even a number 2 guy next year.
Right now I'm hoping Mosley falls and we can get some cap room cutting Hawethorne.

You and everyone else. If there's one thing I know about how the Saints draft, it's that I don't know anything. I think Loomis and Payton do shite to play with us like kids with a magnifying glass and an ant pile.

I don't like Ford and I would be surprised if the FO and CSP did .. I am behind whatever we decide to do but I really hope we don't take Ford or Ealy
