The folks on the right who hate poor people and/or science (which would include all of them) aren't gonna like this one.

Poverty Impedes Cognitive Function
The poor often behave in less capable ways, which can further perpetuate poverty. We hypothesize that poverty directly impedes cognitive function and present two studies that test this hypothesis. First, we experimentally induced thoughts about finances and found that this reduces cognitive performance among poor but not in well-off participants. Second, we examined the cognitive function of farmers over the planting cycle. We found that the same farmer shows diminished cognitive performance before harvest, when poor, as compared with after harvest, when rich. This cannot be explained by differences in time available, nutrition, or work effort. Nor can it be explained with stress: Although farmers do show more stress before harvest, that does not account for diminished cognitive performance. Instead, it appears that poverty itself reduces cognitive capacity. We suggest that this is because poverty-related concerns consume mental resources, leaving less for other tasks. These data provide a previously unexamined perspective and help explain a spectrum of behaviors among the poor. We discuss some implications for poverty policy.

I was ready to have a discussion about this, but it's clear from your first sentence that you're trolling, which is a shame.

Maybe the farmer in your scenario shows poorer returns bc he is a moron and doesnt know how to farm as well as the well-to-do farmer.

I'm guessing that OP is poor judging by the amount of bad posts he makes.

using different points around a seasonal cycle such as a harvest is a pretty weak proxy for actual sustained poverty.
also, frick you and your trolling op

More like bad decision making can cause you to become poor.

Making this thread is an example of bad decision making.
Your parents having sex was bad decision making.
I'm assuming you were born into poverty, and are still poor, seeing as how you inherited your parents bad decision making.

This isn't what the research found. At best the first study shows that poor people handle financial stress worse. And I don't see any causality. It could be possible that people are poor because they suffer from financial stress and thereby make worse monetary decisions than the non-poor. Not saying that is the cause, but the experiment as framed can't really answer that question.
The farmer's experiment...I really fail to see how that can be linked to poverty at all. It shows when the most stressful part of the season hits and the farmer is worried about bankruptcy, yeah, he is a little distracted. It lacks external validity.
But let's just say it's true. Being poor CAUSES one to make bad decisions (probably through a stress mechanism).
So? Why would people who "hate the poor" change their mind on anything because of that fact?
I mean if nothing else, it would seem to explain a lot of Democratic voters.

Stop posting or answer the troll threads you start. You have another thread on the next page that you started that is currently unattended. You know, the one about how you think it's ok for 9/11 terrorists to act on their beliefs?
Either that or we can keep shaming you.
Your choice.

I can see the "social justice" crowd trying to start using this as the excuse why violent crime per household is much higher in places like Detroit, Baton Rouge and Opelousas.

One of the trends I see from the liberal way of thinking is to never take responsibility. Negative consequences of a person's actions is always someone else's fault.

He strives on this. Some people would rather be noticed even if by ridicule than not to be noticed at all I guess.

I would think that it actually opens up the door to provide more guidance and controls on the poor including drug testing for welfare, replacing EBT cards with beets/spinach/beans/rice, and revoking voting rights to those that take government assistance. I mean, if it is indeed true that poverty impedes cognative disability....
