Pam and Jim

Watching the first two seasons and she treats Jim pretty bad. She uses him as her office boyfriend and whines about Roy and then gets so excited when he, in a drunken stupor on the Booze Cruise, finally decides to set a date. Why isn't Jim sick of this? Then, he breaks up with Amy Adams, the cheerleader/purse lady, because he is upset about Pam?
I like Pam. She's cute with a good sense of humor. But, she is jerking Jim around and the second time around on this series I am seeing it all in a different light.
There. I said it.

Pam was always a pretty shitty person, but got a pass on it for a long time.

Pam sucks. I've hated her for a long time on The Office. She just seems so damn boring.

Because he's a spineless beta who put Pam on a pedestal with his silly high school crush on her.
It always disgusted me...
...because I can relate.

Her unbelievable selfishness toward the end of the series had its roots at the beginning. The writers did a pretty good job of being consistent with Pam. She never changed. It was just hard to see because you were rooting for them to get together.
Roy is an idiot.
Jim is right there. Pam loves being with him. But, she is using him.
Of course, Pam doesn't see her own worth either, which is why she didn't want to leave the office or Scranton when Jim was trying to make a better life for them. So, I guess that part of Pam's problem was that she didn't ever see herself as more than a receptionist.
Jim had his problems, but he ends up being the hero of the story, in my opinion.

Completely agree.
I always hoped Roy would just walk in and be like Hey Halpert, how's my dick taste.
One of my absolute favorite moment in the show is when they are finally dating and Pam is in new york. There is this scene where Jim and Roy make up in the bar and he says so how's pam? And Jim says good she's in new York hanging out with some friends.and Roy says ouch. I mean you were just a friend right?
Jim proceeds to jump in his car and speed toward new york. He eventually turns around but even there you could tell he didn't trust her and he knew she might take a new York boyfriend while he's in Scranton.
and another thing about that selfish bitch she moves to new York for a stupid art school program and Jim totally supports her without question. He wants to move to be like some millionaire investor sports rep and she's like no. We will stay poor paper salesman and frick you for suggesting otherwise.

Pam likes security and doesn't want to lose what she has. Jim has nuts and isn't happy with his situation so he does something about it and it works. He's the hero of the story.

Did he or did he not quit his job and help start a wildly successful business?

Its because Jim put Pam up on a pedestal. Once you put a girl up there she will always look down on you.
But I think the reason Jim breaks up with Amy Adams is that he knows shes way more into him than he is into her, and he doesn't want to lead her on or use her as a rebound because of it.

Remind me what his job was in the series finale.

The show jumped the shark when he dumped Rashida Jones for her. What an idiot.

I've known women like Pam -- beyond their cutesy facade is a manipulating count.

They moved to Texas or something and he finally went and chased his dream. He was completely devoted to Pam and would not go without her, so she finally relented and they left.
He ended up being a success.
When you watch the show as it is going on, Pam seems great. When you step back and watch it from the beginning, you see why she was a receptionist in the first place. Jim believed in her, but she didn't believe in herself and kept using Roy (for security) and finally Jim (for the same thing).
It all worked out though, as she saw that Jim was willing to be miserable for her and she missed the old Jim so she was willing to move.
Really, even her last move was selfish because she wanted "happy, pranster Jim" back and she was willing to move to get it.
The only one trying for anything was Jim. First, he went after Pam, then he went after a life/career.
And, Michael. Michael did the same. In a way, Jim and Michael both were the heroes of the story.

I liked her character the first few seasons. Then she got bitchy.

Pam sucks. I don't care about her "cuteness". She used Jim early and manipulated Jim throughout.
Jim had his real shot to break away from her with Rashida Jones. They would have lived a long happy life and Jim could have been himself.
