I'm not sure if the previous positions of the route are attributed to military radar blips from Malaysia or pings from the engines.

I just heard that the us came up with the idea of using the last satellite ping...apparently Malaysia hadn't thought of that

From what I heard earlier, and someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but they only have pings off of one satellite and that's where the arc came from. If they could find pings from 2 or mores satellites around the same time, they could form more arcs, which would intersect at some point and give a much more accurate location.

That's my civilian interpretation of it anyways.

Yeh I understand what y'all are saying and that is why I said last night how in the frick do they think it could be anywhere from near Russia to Australia. I would rather learn more about how the course had been plotted prior to the last ping. I think the Malaysian government has been terrible releasing data to the US,

ETA: how is the arc so elongated from the turn is my biggest issue...no way they could go that far in an hour

The guy on CNN (I'm watching the baseball game on the computer and CNN on TV, so I didn't catch it all) said that Malaysia doesn't really want the US in this, or something of the sort. He was saying that they were hesitant to let China in too.

They were also pondering whether or not US intelligence and China would cooperate.

Malaysia sucks. They really suck.

Edited for my horrible spelling mistake.

I'm on my phone. My bad.

Thankfully, you're here to point out my catastrophic autocorrect failure. I'll edit for you.

Potentially giant lead from the Daily Mail:

LINK

quote:

Police are investigating the possibility that the pilot of missing Flight MH370 hijacked his own aircraft in a bizarre political protest.

The Mail on Sunday has learned that Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah was an ‘obsessive’ supporter of Malaysia’s opposition leader, Anwar Ibrahim. And hours before the doomed flight left Kuala Lumpur it is understood 53-year-old Shah attended a controversial trial in which Ibrahim was jailed for five years.

Campaigners say the politician, the key challenger to Malaysia’s ruling party, was the victim of a long-running smear campaign and had faced trumped-up charges.

Police sources have confirmed that Shah was a vocal political activist – and fear that the court decision left him profoundly upset. It was against this background that, seven hours later, he took control of a Boeing 777-200 bound for Beijing and carrying 238 passengers and crew.

quote:

Zaharie’s co-workers have told investigators the veteran pilot was a social activist who was vocal and fervent in his support of Ibrahim.
‘Colleagues made it clear to us that he was someone who held strong political beliefs and was strident in his support for Anwar Ibrahim,’ another investigation source said. ‘We were told by one colleague he was obsessed with politics.’

quote:

Zaharie is believed to be separated or divorced from his wife although they share the same house, close to Kuala Lumpur’s international airport. They have three children, but no family members were at home yesterday: only the maid has remained there.

Wow, it goes much deeper than that man. I'm sorry that you didn't know, but your "sister" was a plant all along. She was inserted long ago to verify this incident. Also she has been the one stealing your socks all along. Russia has long been trying to master our elastic band technology, with nothing but futile attempts.

Let me know if you need anything getting through this difficult time.

So he would fit in nicely on the poli board. Wonder what's his handle...

interesting, but doesn't explain why he was flying around evading radar. You would think researching and planning this route would take some time.

Everybody is a little pissed at something.
Doesn't mean they'll take down a multi million dollar aircraft and kill hundreds of innocent lives.

Yeah, I could see James Carville blowing up some levees when a Republican is elected to the White House.

The captain apparently attended the sentencing of Anwar Ibrahim 7 hours before he took command of flight 370. Ibrahim was sentenced to five years in prison for sodomy. Too much of a coincidence...

So he decided to take a joyride on a 777 with 240 passengers on board? If he had a political axe to grind he would have communicated his political manifesto to ATC or some agency in order to get his message across. Why cut off all communication and fly for 7 more hours and just ditch the plane in the ocean?
