There were no labels back then, I dont think. Later, in the late 70's each helmet had to be recertified each year and a new sticker affixed.

there weren't concussions back then, right?

Especially if they start settling these things. I hope the equipment industry fights this and wins.

Which Stan Harris? The one who used to work for TJ Moran? Haven't heard that name in a long time. Nice guy.

It would be interesting to hear from those who worked with him then and since.

Out of curiosity and possible stupidity, if nothing was truly known of concussions back then, then how can anyone be held responsible for something that was not evident?

So then can cash in now. Pretty ridiculous, if you didn't realize going into it that getting your head slammed into over and over couldn't possibly have some long term ill effect...I don't know what to tell you.

Where does it end? When do the crippled running backs who played 10-15yrs in the league get into the act?

Concur. I thought it might take a generation or two as mamas don't let their middle schoolers start playing and the talent pool dries up. But it might be faster than that with prohibitive costs due to lawsuits.

This is beyond pathetic. Guess he figures suing LSU might hurt business. He is over.

Why the frick would he sue LSU?, the NCAA sets guidelines and made the choices with helmets.

You guys are acting like idiots, you slam the NCAA because you think they are a bunch of idiots, and then defend them when they are sued.

Do all of you work for Riddell? own stock? Then WHY the frick do you automatically defend them.

By the way, when Mike Anderson's had the fire in the restaurant someone choose to libel him about, HE PAID all of his staff WHILE it was being rebuilt. EVERYONE working there he kept on payroll, and PAID THEM, from cooks to waiters, waitresses, etc. I found that out from a friend's daughter who was a waitress there during that time. THAT EXPENSE wasn't reimbursed; but he did the right thing FOR HIS EMPLOYEES.
He is a good guy, so frick you idiots, it's your comments that are pathetic.

They will fight it, and they will probably win.

Anyone suing would HAVE to prove that Riddell knew their helmets were not meeting the guidelines set if they were not.

Anyone suing the NCAA would have to prove the NCAA knew the guidelines were not sufficient enough.

Where there are still guys, who want to impress girls there will be football in school, middle school and up.

An improvement in helmets at pre college level would not be a bad thing though.

How can any lawsuit be filed after this long a time period?

Isn't there a Statute of Limitations on initiation of legal action?

It's been 44 years since his last playing season. (1970)
