No mention of handling emails via mobile device as soon as they come in, and then moving on?
Must be the death of the keyboard phone. I still rock a Blackberry with multiple accounts set up with different notification priorities; it allows me to easily handle -- or ignore -- 100 emails on a busy day.
<--- Look how efficient it's made me. 1000 posts in 4.5 years. Hope the TD servers can handle the strain.

This is the attitude I want to push for.
Honestly a lot of it is bc people can't make simple decisions on shite without unnecessarily involving others.
Me too, I wish our boss would put an end to it. I work in IT, and the guys in my group think they are all funny, so everytime an email thread has potential to be informative, they derail it with all kinds of weak attempts at humor. I end up deleting the thread, so if there is anything important in it I will miss it. Thankfully that hasn't happened yet.

Is it normal to get 50+ emails a day?
Yeah...on a Saturday.
I get closer to 100 during the week

In a day? Somewhere between 150-200.
Posted on 3/3/14 at 9:32 am to GregMaddux
I probably send 35-50 emails per day. Don't receive that many though.

Create Folders with Rules, that will automatically move the messages to those folders without you having to do anything.
This has helped me a lot.

I get at least 50. Sometimes it is 100 or more depending on how many "reply all" replies are sent.
Posted on 3/3/14 at 9:34 am to GregMaddux
600-700 easily. I only check them from 8-5.

I get a ton of emails every day, 200-300. I work in IT as well, and a lot of them are notifications from servers and workstations that we monitor. Those filter into a subfolder automatically through rules.
I have VIPs setup on my iPhone and MacBook for my employees, business partners, and important clients. This has helped with never missing high priority emails.

I'm in a pretty beta position as a middle manager, but one thing I do is have my regular people send me one comprehensive email per day - that way I can get to all of their concerns in one swipe and not have emails flood my damn inbox every time they have a question

probably about 45-60, I have created folders for them. the worst is should it be under subject or sender. I work with a older gentleman in a another state that doesn't keep or file email just reads them and deletes them - then you can guess who he calls when he deletes those important emails -

Just got into the office( due to snow and ice) and I have 140 in my inbox.
Posted on 3/3/14 at 10:28 am to GregMaddux
During volume time: 30-60 e-mails a day

I probably get around 120-130. I probably only need about 10-15% of them.
