There is no safe level of radionuclide exposure, whether from food, water or other sources. Period,

I guess they must not like bananas, which are naturally very mildly radioactive.

Great! I have some steaks I'd like med. rare. How long do they need to be outside to be done just right?

More scare tactics by the mass media.

Regulations in the US set by the NRC require water effluents containing Cs-137 to contribute no more than 50mrem/year dose to a member of the general public (In comparison, you receive between 360 and 600mrem a year from radiation just by living). This value is calculated assuming that the only source of water for a person is from that discharge of radioactive water. In order to get 50mrem/year, a person would have to continuously drink from water that is contaminated with 37000 Bq/m^3 of Cs-137. Compare that number to the possible high level of 27 Bq/m^3 in one article from LINK

This is why there is no worry about the "plume" and why these stories are just written to evoke emotional responses. Our bodies handle radiation everyday - freaking out about it causes significantly more harm to the body.

I hope you are joking with this crap. Can't believe how many stupid fcking fricks believe this silly stuff.
A nut job friend of mine posted it on his facebook feed and he had a lady friend go off about this and other things that are killing us.
She was VERY upset about the fracking toxic fluids that were washed into the drinking water during the Colorado floods last year.

Hope they are wrong. I had enough radiation for one man during cancer treatments.

That depends. Are you just setting them on the sidewalk to cook or has the radiation given you mutant powers and you're going to heat them up with your eyes?

massive plume of radiation

So, what level is the radiation? Low levels of NORM are everywhere. Dose makes the poison.

Read my post above, It's being reported as low as 27 Bq/m^3

You'd need to drink water continuously with 37000 Bq/m^3 for a year to reach the yearly limit allowed for general workers.

you get more radiation exposure from flying than you do from Fukushima here in the US.

you get more radiation from black sand at the beach than you do from Fukushima.

why in the hell WOULD the media cover it?

why dont you pick up a science book and learn that these DOOM AND GLOOM, FUKUSHIMA, ONOZ articles are full of shite

Sorry, when the article contains gems like:
quote:

3) Your Water
When water evaporates from the Pacific, the water molecules are large enough to carry within them, atomic particles.

it is hard to give it much credibility.
