It is. I'd be ok if $12 was the high end, but it's the low.
So what about Cantillon? Do you really get 2.5x the enjoyment out of a $30 750ml bottle of Cantillon as you do the same amount of GITM?
I only say this because price is not the be all end all for me when choosing a beer.

Personally, I do. I savor the hell out of a great Kriek. If I want hop aroma I can open up a $1.99 bag of hops and inhale them all day.
With cheap and easy access here recently to cheap Enjoy By, RuinTen and even Ruination the only way I can honestly justify $12/bottle of another DIPA is that they're local and I haven't had it yet.

You saying I've never drank a beer out of a can?

There is a point made here, but the point should also be that can you find something on the level of Cantillon for less?
The problem comes that Ruination and Ruinten can be found for about 2/3 the price (think those are 5.99 and 7.99)

Listen here guys. You know my opinion on ghost. I've had it aside by side with abrasive, dj, and heady. I talked about it in fbd thread. My opinion is like everyone else's. A unique opinion. There is no right or wrong one.
Anyway here is my announcement.
I'm going to the brewery tonight or tomorrow to pick up bottles for others. I will be in BR Friday and Nola for mardi gras. I can also ship out of state as many already know. If you'd like some, place orders here. If you know someone who would some, tell them to post orders here.
End of announcement
Would love to place an order.
EDIT, got something worked out.

Cantillon to GitM
Not apples to apples on price comparison. You know this, B. But yes, I get way more enjoyment out of a $30/bottle of Cantillon than I do an IIPA.
The market is full of cheap, really good IIPAs. The market is not so full of cheap, really good Guezes.

Been a while since I've had a Ruination, so maybe I need to try it against a GITM. My recollection is that the aroma isn't quite as dank and that RuinTen's aroma is more in line with GITM. But I also think GITM is easier to drink than RuinTen. Again, that's not a side by side comparison though.
I am willing to put a premium on a locally brewed beer. I get that others may not see it that way, and bottom line is what they're concerned with.

I can appreciate the fact that there are costs associated with spontaneous fermentation (Waste, infections, age, fruit), which is something you can't work around. Show me a top tier lambic or gueuze (or American wild ale) as Cantillon or 3F at a much lower price.

Heady: $12 for 64 oz
GitM: $12 for 25 oz
I understand the alchemist gets a decent discount because of bulk orders (packaging and ingredients), but that is a big price difference.

I think most people are, heck, look what we pay for the 4pk of TimberBeast.
Would be surprised if there are many left on the shelves.

But I also think GITM is easier to drink than RuinTen. Again, that's not a side by side comparison though.
I don't like the price but will still be buying 4-6 bottles :smh:

Yes, that is definitely a question only each individual can answer. More and more of late, I do get more enjoyment from a huge aroma DIPA than I do a geueze. But that's me. I'd rather have 2 GITM bottles and $6 in my pocket than 1 Cantillon bottle. But that's just my opinion, and I can't speak for what other people do and don't put priorities on.
That's also not to say that I don't think the price point on GITM isn't too high. I think the sweet spot should be $10 for the bottle. But I'd also buy a $12 750 of GITM over a $7 11.2 oz bottle of Mikkeller IPA every day of the week.

As am I. Ill hand them a few extra dollars directly, just like ill hand the next brewery I'm near my money directly. Craft beer is a hobby I enjoy and am willing to pay for. I signed up for this addiction knowing my wallet would never be full again.
