Anyone? If so, name your top 5 fav songs by them

The Doors? Jim Morrison? He's a drunken buffoon posing as a poet. Give me The Guess Who. They got the courage to be drunken buffoons, which makes them poetic.

I was a big fan at 15 or so. I still like them, and listen to them, just not as much anymore.
In no order:
Roadhouse Blues
Peace Frog
The End(especially the live one "don't wanna die in an automobile, I wanna lay in an open field...)
LA Woman
The Soft Parade
Not a hard 5, just some of my favorites.

Casual fan.
Cool story bro: My first year in NYC, I went to see a Doors cover band play downtown (don't know why, but a friend wanted to see them). Got thrown out of the bar for being too drunk and possibly smoking a cigarette that may have contained an illegal substance. Place was so crowded, I was able to sneak back in about 5 minutes later.

Anybody ever listen to The End cranked up with earbuds/headphones on?
The beginning chopper riff hops from ear to ear. Check it out.

Almost Famous did for the Doors what Lebowski & Sideways did for the Eagles & Merlot.
I remember as a kid buying Soft Parade with the scant money in pocket...going home, putting on the vinyl and thinking WTF?!!? But I'm still a bigtime Manzarek fan. He was an inventor, legend, and the key piece to their sound.

quote:
The Doors
Jim Morrison was a punk. Another artist that became some kind of cult figure due to his death. (see cobain)
That said, Ray Manzarek was legit.
