Well that's false.

How many offensive lineman have we had drafted the last couple of years?

You expect S&T to make NFl players out of guys who aren't NFL players?

Moffitt's program de-emphasizes bench press in favor of functional strength. Much more cleans and jerks and explosion excersizes. I am no fitness expert, but it seems at least for draft purposes that bench should be further emphasized.

No one in the program will ask my opinion on the matter however, wich of course is a good thing, so take this all with a grain a salt.

If you watch videos from the weight room, Moffit focuses on shoulder movement and power. Bench press is important but finesse moves for DL and arm control for OL will probably come from mostly shoulder control and strength.

So they should focus on bench to get a few more reps at the combine and not work on the strength they need to actually play the position?

Got it. Oh no that makes total sense.

Rant is full of better coaches than lsu can staff and better analysts than the networks can attain

The LSU S&C program is built around explosiveness and for lack of a better phrase, "short term strength". Meaning plays in a game never last more than 8-10 seconds, why would Moffitt train them to bench press for a 1min+

Getting these guys ready for the combine bench press is not Moffitts job. Not to mention after the season is over most of them go elsewhere to train with guys that do train people for the combine.

No one in the history of ever has lost draft spots because of their bench reps.

Watch a video of the guys doing it, they are slamming the shite of their chest and bouncing around so much. Its a joke.

Ironically I just read an article the other day talking about how the bench press is a horrible exercise that puts undue stress on rotator cuffs and push ups and cable rows/cross overs were much better and effective exercises.

Moffitt has said multiple times that he doesn't focus on the bench press

Thank god. Bench Press isn't much of a functional exercise for football players

The last couple of years we've had a ton of underclassmen go early. Those guys would have normally had another year or two in the S&C program.

meh...as it relates to BP numbers, some guys are just naturally stronger than others and Moffitt is not charged for differing genetics.

I was always gifted with strength and while I can still out bench AJ, he would absolutely destroy me.

Its not Moffitt, its God.

How many juniors did we have drafted in the last two seasons? Get out of here

Fwiw the tards in the Alabama fanbase bitch about the same thing.. probably because their S&C coach and our guy train their athletes in the same way.

I don't think so.

Where would you rate our strength and conditioning program? It's hard to tell what your assessment is.
